I am not a Ferrari owner, but am looking to purchase in the next few years. Can anyone tell my why some 328's carry the Ferrari badge near the front right fender while others don't? Thanks

Owners added these on their own. The 328 never came with the Ferrari badge/shield on the front fenders.

My mind is drawing a blank but I think it was the 288 GTO that started the trend on other cars.

Welcome to the forum, good luck on finding the right 328. If you have more questions I'm sure we can help.

Thank you for your response. I did some searching around the web and found a good picture (see below). According to the web page where I found this pic this is a 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS. Notice the Ferrari emblem behind the right front fender. The same badge is on the left side too. So, not sure why some 328's have the badge while others don't. I've also seen this on some of the 308's.

yes, not a single 328 came from the factory with the scuderia shields
if you run into one, look closer and you will see that it are stickers.
with more modern cars that have the shields, the shields are embedded into the fender

Yes, tehy are aftermarket parts. Officially they are only meant for the racecars, supercars (288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo) and special editions (Challenge Stradale, 550 Barchetta Pininfarina), but they were an option since I believe the 348 for the normal cars as well.
On the 308/328 they are stickers, but they can be in many forms, I also saw them in think plaxtic and even in metal so they are more realistic. I just remember they do not have to be stickers, I read also about magnetic shields so you can take them of the car without damaging the paint.
