Before I take my Baby to the mechanic:

I replaced the thermostat, and bled the air out of te system at the radiator and at the thermostat housing and it is still overhaeting while the radiator is still cool.

Questions:

When bleeding at the thermostat housing, after the air has come out, should there be coolant coming out, indicating that there is no more air in the system? (not happening in my case)

Should I now resign myself to replace the water pump?

My problem is that I don't have the appropriate mechanics tools! If The sucker needs to be replace, Iwill have to sell my house, my girlfriend and my sister to pay the mechanic to do the job.

Tell me it isn't so...

... I like my house!

Oh... another supid question (I shoud have started with that one!)

What is the max temp (in Farenheit) that the car should run?

The absolute maximum permitted water tempature when running is 230 Degrees F.

I would bled the system it until some of the coolant comes out. Are you opening up the heating valves when you are bleeding the system ?

Is the generator warning light coming on (lower right hand corner, next to the tachometer) ?

IT'S WORKING!!!

Thank you all for giving me hope. I took a while but the system is working.

As is said in Galaxyquest:

It does sound like you could have some deposit build up in the system. When you get a chance you might consider giving it a good flushing.
Agreed. a good POWER FLUSH and a refill (plus the usual bleeding/burping) is in order IMHO.
