I've heard of modifications to allow parking light operation without having the headlight assemblies in the up position. I was wondering if early 308s were unique. My 1976 308 GTB allows for this operation. I also have headlight flashing function.
The light stalk has three positions:
The uppermost position is OFF. Turning the knob turns on the parking lights. Pulling on the stalk with the parking lights on flashes the headlight. The headlight assemblies stay up for as long as you hold the stalk back. Releasing the stalk retracts the headlights
With the parking lights on, moving the stalk down to the middle position turns on the dipped beams and the headlight assemblies go up. Pulling back on the stalk in this position does nothing.
Moving the stalk to its lowest position turns on the main (high) beams. Pulling back on the stalk adds the dipped beam filaments to the main beams.
I've also heard that instrument cluster lights tend to be dim in 308s. I guess it's a matter of preference as mine seem to be fine. I generally dim instrument lights off the maximum setting.
