I took the oil pressure sender out of mine and hooked up a mechanical pressure gauge in it's place. I then performed a test from cold start up to full temp, at idle speeds and up to 6,000 RPM. I recorded all of these numbers in my record book.
I now know exactly what my engine does at any tempurature and RPM. I calibrate my eye to compensate for the inaccuracies of the OEM gauge.
