hey guys,

just wondering if anyone could help me out with a couple of questions on the 288GT0 1984-1986.

1.) Were there any 288GTO's brought to Australia in right hand drive form?

and
2.) What are they worth today in full working order and good condition?

thanks for the help,

Peter,
Don't let a LHD car ruin it for you. Its still a wonderful car and heck its half the price I said it is. I'm not sure what the laws there are like but here importing a RHD is a bitch. Three cars have to be crashed first for the DOT to be happy :x Perhaps its hard to import a LHD to Austraila? Good luck with your search though and let us know if you choose something else!

Very nice car, the 288 GTO. Officially only 272 LHD red ones were made, but in Ferrariland that does not mean a thing wink: OFFICIALLY no RHD F40 was made either, but some were unofficially!!!!!! At the moment a grey one is for sale in the UK. Most of this special cars were made for the Brunei collection. I am not saying that they do have RHD 288 GTO's in this collection, but do not be surprised when one shows up.

Keep hoping :)

damn, got here to late.
peter is correct, unfortunally there are only 272 made.
and no RHD, it is possible that there are some in Australia, you never know.
About the price, they go for about the same as an F40

Continue to work for it! If you really want it and you try really hard, you CAN have it! Even when it gets tough, don't give up! When I was 15 I told my mother I wanted to buy a Ferrari and she said "I'll believe that whan I see it!" One of the best days of my life was last month when I gave her a ride in my car! I think she was more proud than I was (and she doesn't even like Ferrari's).

This just struck me - I was 15 in 1979 so I ended up buying the car that I was pointing at and telling my parents I was going to buy. :ex: :ex:

Peter, maybe you will end up with the '02 575M! :ex:

Dj Dirk, dont worry if you missed the race, these days its unusual not to see the two italian stallions finishing 1-2 most races.

and 02' 575M, that'd be awesome Pete!!!, but i was thinking the F355 Berlinetta F1 and putting twin turbos on it and taking it in some on road rallies around the country, that'd have to be my dream!!! image that, the F355 does 4.6secs to 100km/h in standard form, it'd fly with twin turbos!!!

have a good one guys!!

ok, it was just a thought because last year i was in a crowd watching a GP rally in a country town near where i live and there were numerous Ferrari's competing in it and there happened to be one F40 and dam it was so loud and so nice to listen to. Thats where i got the idea of twin turbos on an F355 because thats one of my favourite models and its more affordable than the F40 so having a V8 twin turbo in it would be awesome.
I know Ferrari's are beasts in standard form but i have heard many go by and none of them sounded like the grown and rumble that came from that awesome F40!!!

I believe (but I am not sure) when the twin turbo kit is installed the muffler is deleted. They rely strictly on the muffling effect of the turbos.

I saw a company out in California that has a twin turbo / fuel injection kit for my car that is supposed to boost the horsepower from 250 to over 400.

The complete kit was something like 7,500 USD. I think I will live with the "measly" 250 hp. :D
