There were 272 Ferrari 288 GTOs made between 1984 and 1987. Of those, 269 were Red and 3 were Competition Yellow. None were right hand drive. There is a Black with red stripe RHD that was owned by a Sultan, a Black LHD that was owned by Sultan, an Indian Blue one owned by Sultan and a White one with powder blue interior that was Owned by Chris Evans in Britain. These were all aftermarket orders done by Piniferina for wealthy private clients. hey were all done and delivered without dealer involvement. There are no known yellows left in existance and about 200 or so Red ones are reported to exist. There were suppossed to be 288 made to match the number of 288 (Which was 2.8 liter 8 cylinder) but the GroupB race series that the cars were built for was cancelled before Ferrari got the cars fully rolled out so they quit at the 272 number for some reason.
