Is frequent backfire for a 1973 246 gts (Dino) on deceleration to be expected? Is there anything that I can do? Carburator was just adjusted by Ferrari dealer. Thanks for any suggestions.

More than likely, its a failed exhaust pipe gasket - the "doughnut" type that fit inbetween the flange connections. Or, maybe a bolt has become loose in one of those exhaust connections and that is causing it to leak as well.

Or, worst-case scenario is your ignition system is cutting-out, or is failing. Dinos use an antiquated system called "Dinoplex" made by Magneti Marelli. They are known to fail, but I think they have an emergency, conventional coil-operated system as back-up if the Dinoplex fails.

246 backfire

Thanks. What is the best way to check for presence and location of exhaust leak?
