According to today’s local newspaper, a man walked into the Costa Mesa DMV to register his 1961 Ferrari 250-GT SWB. He told them the value was $26,500 and paid ten percent as the fee.

After the man left, a supervisor had some questions. Was this a kit car being registered as a real Ferrari? If this was a real Ferrari, was the value only $26,500?

After an investigation, the man has been arrested for three felonies: perjury, grand theft, and false evidence of documents. It turns out he paid ₤600,000 in London for the car.
