I planned to drive the Elise to Katie's this morning... the Elise planned differently. I had a problem starting the car, several weeks ago, and discovered that I needed to use my CTEK charger on a different setting (the cold weather setting), since it is an 'AGM' type battery. It seems that the battery was at the end of its life, since that strategy worked, but only for a few more weeks. Now, I need to buy a new one. Oh, well.

A decent crowd at Katie's, even including a Ferrari and a Lamborghini. Oh, and my Subaru.

The last pic - the youngest photographer there this morning.

WAY TOO MUCH salt on the roads for me to take any of the cars out.
Shame as the weather is perfect.
Hopefully, the forecast rain this week will clear it all away.
Fingers crossed.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

Today was a Katie's Perfect Storm, Winter Edition. Many people have stayed away the last few weeks, because of extreme cold, and salt, and some light rain & snow. It was reasonably warm this morning, it had rained away most of the salt earlier this week, and no chance of precipitation. As a result, people came out in good numbers - even with Ferraris!

How about that Daytona!

Well, we've made it to February, though Punxutawney Phil says we have 6 more weeks of winter. It was 15F when I got to Katie's this morning, but at least there was no wind. A reasonable amount of cars showed up. Zahir brought the only Ferrari I saw today.

A late-ish arrival to Katie's this morning. A year from now, this might not make sense to most people. Get it?

crossed the river today

I snuck out of Maryland and visited Katie's for a quick run thru. The weather was reasonable and nice to see some friends and some cars as well.

Turnout was decent this morning, and, at least it wasn't ridiculously cold! Just as I left, Dr. Dave arrived in his 550, so we had a Ferrari!

Not a huge turnout, because it was foggy out - but, it was mid-forties this morning, even really early! Dan S. just bought a 599, and brought it out for the first time... A huge number of Porsches there, as there always seems to be when there's iffy weather... Ed C. drove his X 1/9.

came across the border once again

glad I came out to Katies this am. As usual, some nice rides. I got a chance to talk with Michael, the owner of the 53 Porsche. I didn't realize the story of that car. Evidently it was a bit of a junker when he got it. Did some research to realize that it had raced in the Millie Miglia back in period. It was restored carefully. Just last week he fielded a call from Lord March with an invite to Goodwood next year. And then its off to the Millie Miglia the next year. what a cool car.

so cool that I made this collage from today's photos. Let me know if you want one done for your car or family.

After being at Katie's early last week, but finding it closed because of the power outage, we (and a LOT of other people) decided today was the day for a drive to Katie's. Today was, by far, the biggest day for Ferraris this year.

We also saw our first Dodge Challenger Demon today. 840hp!

A special day at Katies; first, it's St. Patrick's Day, and that really means something at a place called The Old Brogue. Second, the many regulars who missed last week because they were at the Amelia Island Concours in Florida returned, with great stories of cars and car people. Of course, there are ALWAYS great cars at Katie's. (A sparse day for Ferraris, though.)

My favorites this week - the beautiful Mercedes Gullwing replica, built on a newer MB chassis, with a modern AMG engine. Bob Morris' unbelievable, fresh-from-restoration Allard. As beautiful a new car as there is: the Aston Martin DB11. Another all-time favorite of mine: the Alfa Montreal.

The weather wasn't bad today - cold, but clear. However, this past week's snow meant we still had lots of salt on the roads, so it limited the attendees a bit. There were an abnormally large number of Aston Martins there, probably in support of the "007" charity event they were promoting. Three Ferraris there today.

Today was the last Saturday in March, it wasn't too cold, and FINALLY, the salt on the roads has been washed away! We had a few Ferraris show up.

We had been getting dire predictions of a big snow all week. That changed late this week to a snow/rain mix. The reality was, a very sparse, slight mist. While the turnout at Katie's was a bit light, we had some interesting stuff... I was the first car there! Both Glenn and Fred brought Ferraris!

Without a doubt, this was the largest day ever at Katie's. Cars were parked all the way around the Great Falls Village shopping center. While I am glad Katie's remains popular, the fact that we had overflow cars parking across Walker Road on the Safeway parking lot, and also parked unsafely along the side of Georgetown Pike. This will generate a lot of complaints, if this is not just a blip in attendance for the first gorgeous-weather day of the year.

Lots of Ferraris there, for the first time this year. I didn't get pictures of many of them...

The 'Bugatti Atlantic' replica was Corvette-based.

A beautiful and crowded Saturday at Katies

I had to get up at 4:30 to get to my buddies place by 5:30 so we could wake up the 66 Lincoln to get to Katie's by 6. Glad we got there. Spaces were at a premium by 6:15.

As always, saw some new cars and old friends.

After visiting the HVA Cars and Coffee on the Mall with the Bullet Mustang, I rolled over to Great Falls for a few photos. As always on a good weather day, there was much to look at.
