Car Stereo Repair?

I have an old CD head unit that I need repaired. Anyone have a favorite place locally to get it working correctly?

Thanks,
LS

Likely easier and less expensive to buy a replacement. Which model is it for. You still use CDs?

Try Scott and see if he has parts for it.

Yes, people still use CDs. No I-Pods or whatever they are in our household. Stereo never on in the 575M and satellite radio in the GL 550.

L.C., My 1997 Mercedes SL600 V12 still has the CDs and the cassette head ! :steering wheel: Sounds great with the Bose system though.

Lash,

I've used two places in San Diego:

Mike Zuccaro who is nationally known in vintage circles. He repaired my 60's vintage preamp over a decade ago and it's worked ever since. However, while he doesn't repair CD players, he may be able to recommend someone who can.

The other is Classic Audio Repair. I'd be willing to bet if Fred Longworth can't or doesn't know who can fix it, it probably can't be.

Good luck!

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

Thanks for the replies. I will inquire with the San Diego contacts if I can't find anything in DC.

355Dreamer/Collector, it is more about having old school sound quality, construction and looks.

Thanks!

355Hoarder, true and possible. I've had the unit since I was in school so it has some sentimental value.

I don't know how old a unit you are dealing with, but this guy (ask for Willy) saved my 1968 euro-band Blaupunkt: he is not an internet or email guy.
