2014 C & C - Great Falls, VA - Katie's

For reference purposes, here's the link to the 2013 Katie's Cars & Coffee, Great Falls, VA -

http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/us...c-c-great.html

Last Saturday, 1/4/14, was cold, rainy and icy. That, plus the mass of salt and sand on the streets kept me (and probably most others) home.

Here are some pictures from 1/11/14. It rained all morning, and there was still a little snow on the ground, but it warmed up from 38F into the mid-40's, so it wasn't too bad. Some die-hards came out, and brought their cars. I know I wasn't going to miss Katie's two Saturdays in a row!

Saw my first 4 series on the road yesterday. Good looking car. I guess once they come out with the M4 that the M3's will drop in price. Then I shall acquire one.

What would you expect on a Saturday morning in mid-January, cold, and lightly snowing? Would anyone show up for the Cars & Coffee? I went to find out...

An especially good turnout, considering it was breezy, with temperatures in the twenties, and a dusting of snow on the ground!

The next time we have a clear, warm Saturday, this place is going to be a zoo.

Early this week, we had snow - about 4 - 5", as well as single-digit morning temperatures. It finally 'warmed up' to 21F this morning, so I went to Katie's. Full disclosure - I'm having work done to the Jaguar, so I have a loaner Land Rover. There's still snow and ice in my neighborhood, and the county outdid themselves with putting salt down. The result - ugly roads, and a dry but cold morning. The result - far fewer than the usual turnout of interesting cars at Katie's -- but not a complete dearth of interesting cars, and certainly a good group of Car People inside!

We've noticed that nasty weather brings out more German cars than any others. BTW, in the first picture, how did that pristine Audi SUV get there?

The last couple of weeks in Northern VA have consisted of snow, salt and single-degree mornings. When the first day of February arrived, we were all ready for winter to be 'over'. When I left the house, it was 29F, and we all thought spring was here! Some folks even arrived with their tops down... A pretty good showing today.

Cold, but no snow this morning. Less salt on the roads than recent weekends. It's obvious that some of us can't stay away. The first picture is of the Katie's lot as of 7:43AM.

Two Ferraris there this morning - Glenn's 360 Spyder, and Bobert's 550.

Last picture - Bev's GT-H, with original Hertz hang-tag.

It's been a fairly bad winter here in Northern Virginia. Just as the streets start getting cleared of snow, we get hit with another snowstorm. This is the first weekend fairly free of snow, ice, salt and sand. It's not that there wasn't snow - but the lot was clear, and as long as you avoided potholes, the streets were OK.

Everybody knew what that meant - a cool, clear Saturday, with relatively clean streets brought out the multitudes. It's good to see Italian exotics again!

Al, Too much salt on the roads here in DC, the roads are are dry but white.
The Spider will have to wait another week to come out.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

The first Saturday in March. 17 degrees, clear, no wind. ...but, the streets are dry, with not too much salt & grit. As we now know, that's all a large group of us need to go out to Katie's.

No snow since Monday, and much of the snow, salt and sand was off the streets. The morning started at around 32 degrees, and quickly warmed up. Though a good amount and variety cars were at Katie's, only a few Italian cars came out today, including one Ferrari, a nice 308 GTS.

The Murano convertible deserves special mention, because it's the only car I can think of with two rear windows. It may be the spiritual successor to the Pontiac Aztek.

Good turnout today.
Scott brought James and Spencer with his two Porches. It was nice to see Ted Nugent (who may bring his 360 to Annapolis tomorrow), Zahir and a few more familiar faces.Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1394898800.870438.jpg

Some amazing cars there today! Have you ever seen an Aston Martin V12 Zagato? A Moal Zephyr? If you were at Katie's today, you saw them.

The Moal has a 50's-era Indycar front suspension, and a Buick nailhead engine.
