DC Area Road Salt Report

495 in Montgomery County was lightly treated earlier in the week but is almost all clear...including shoulders.

Southern MoCo roads are clear as is most of DC except for some really hilly streets like Cleveland Ave NW between Calvert and 34th. That section is heavily treated.

Rock Creek Pkwy is totally clear as are most of the areas near the mall.

495 in VA looks to have been heavily treated with lots of salt remaining everywhere near the GW Pkwy and 193 interchanges. GW south from 495 to DCA is patchy and still wet this morning.

I would say that it would be very difficult to get to Katie's using 495 and 193 North without driving through salt.

The Donut could still be possible...more on that later.

If you do the Donut, come to City Dock Annapolis for lunch.
Take 32 east. Fun road to exercise the cars. Free two hour metered parking. I'll hang out at the end of City Dock until noon. Look for the red TR.
Cheers!

If its clear, I'll do one or the other.

Just drove from Wash National up into the district:
No salt visible in Alexandria, road looked nice and clean
Down by the mall, it looked the same.
Up in the district, near AU, there was salt all over.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

Well, it is 40 days 'til Spring, but it will probably be 60 until the rain washes all of this salt off the roads. It is caked on most roads around here. I hate winter.

Fairfax seems to have run out of salt. Now, they're putting down sand.
I guess they will go to barbed wire next.

No salt on Annapolis roads.
Nice turnout at CnC last Sunday at City Dock.

Ed saw his shadow yesterday.
Expect at least six more weeks of winter.

Snow, car-eating salt, pot holes, winter in the north east can be a cruel bitch.

Indeed PRS. Heck, even when all the salt is washed away their are so many millions of potholes now I fear driving either of my fun cars for they may be swollowed up completely by the hellish roads.

I have already damaged two run flat tires and had to buy a set of four new non-runflats on my Daily Driver to the tune of around $1300 so far this winter. Not happy.

If the potholes in the District get any bigger, we'll have to start calling them sinkholes.
They're the worst I've ever seen them.

I've had to replace 3 BMW runflats AND WHEELS.

Ouchie $$$.

At least I know the pothole are now if I decide to do CnC next Sunday in Annapolis.

The contractors the county hired put down so much salt for the half inch of snow we got before this last one that someone made up signs saying "No More Salt" on our street.

It's going to be warm this week with rain on Friday. Katie's is going to be overrun on Saturday.

On a separate note, Al, I can't believe you haven't dumped your run flats for some decent tires. Maybe the potholes are retribution from the automotive gods for using shitty tires?

:P

Arjun - I like the idea of run flats v getting killed changing a tire on the side of a road, which happened to a neighbor when I was a kid

I might be up for Katie's

Definitely on for Annapolis City Dock CnC Sunday

I hate runflats.... Went with Conti Pure contact Eco plus DWS.

Current: 85' GTS QV
It's a simple process...... it's just complicated by human beings....

Good news, roads are clear of salt Annapolis to DC via 95 and the Beltway
