I changed my registration to D about 6 years ago since I live in Montgomery County. We have no Republicans on our County Council and are very unlikey to have any in the near future. Who ever wins the Dem Primary can just coast through the general election.
Most Dems in Montgomery County don't bother with the primary and don't even have a clue who is on the Council. On the other hand the unions tell thier members to vote in the primary and tell them who to vote for which is why the unions own Montgomery County.
Even a small handfull of conservative thinkers registered as Dems can really make a difference in the Primary. The next election decides who the County Executive is going to be. The front runners are Ike Leggett, Doug Duncan and Phil Andrews. Phil Andrews is a moderate Democrat compared to the two ultra left wingers so I am pushing for Andrews to win the Dem Primary.
I will still vote republican in the general. It also messes up the party when they try and jury mander the districts since they will think you are on their side! If you live in a Dem County like I do, it's the best way to have your voice heard.
Tell your nieghbors and get them to do it as well!! Get rid of VanHollen and while you are at it Donna Edwards and Nancy Navaro too.
I just looked and every member on the Montgomery County Council and every member of the Montgomery County Delegation to the state are Democrats. If you live in Montgomery County and are not a registered Democrat you have no vote since the election is the Dem primary.
