2013 Fair Lakes, VA Cars & Coffee (Kohl's)

For reference purposes, here is the link to the 2012 Fair Lakes C & C thread -

http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/us...-lakes-va.html

It's a new year, and we started off with a very good one. Clear skies and brisk temperatures didn't keep many away, as you will see. There was already one newcomer on the lot when I got there at 8:00AM.

No Ferraris this week - we 'made do' with two Lamborghinis. A very good variety of vehicles represented.

Who can guess what that is in the 10th picture?

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! The Citroen Mehari.

2CV-based, it has an ABS plastic body. This one had a severe lean to port.
Here are some more pictures... I didn't want to give too much away at first, by showing the easily-identifiable two-chevron logo stamped into the plastic body. The tires are 135/80 15's.

Actual weather, as well as the weather that forecasts predict, have an effect on Cars & Coffee events. We're early in January, so the predicted 70F day meant many of us were very excited about today. Well, the reality today was quite different. it was foggy today, like it was yesterday morning. When I got to Fair Lakes a bit before 8:00AM today, the temperature was 47F. That does not sound bad for January, but the fog and overcast made for an uncomfortably chilly morning. Still, the hope of a nice Sunday brought a lot of people out, even though the fog meant the attendees took a while to arrive, and some left early.

Bobert showed up with his new purchase, a Jaguar XKR. A large turnout of Mopar folks (lots of Challengers, and a couple of Vipers). Mark Franke drove his Esprit. Regulars in Corvettes, Porsches and BMWs. Ed C in his Noble. Chris C in his GTR. Glen drove his Maserati.

I always say that it takes actual rain or snow to stop these events, and today proved that.

A nice, clear morning - not too cold. As day 2 of a 3-day weekend, I knew we'd have a good turnout, and we did.

As always, some great diversity - but no Italian cars today! Bobert brought his Jaguar XKR.

A cold but clear morning - it was 29F when I got to Fair Lakes at 7:45AM. Wind was light to nonexistent, roads were dry, but some salt remained. Still, we had good attendance today. No Ferraris, but Glenn brought his Maserati, Bobert had his XKR, and lots of people talking cars.

If you have time some Sunday morning, between 8:30AM - 10:30AM, it's worth your while to stop by. Location is Market East Shopping Center, Fair Lakes. Mapquest or NAV system, put in the address for the Kohl's -

Is the yellow car a poor man's imitation of a Ferrari kit car?

WTF? Not even close.

It looks bizarre.

(but much thanks for continuing to post pics to FL, we appreciate the effort!)

It's a packaged Fiero bodykit. I think it has a Buick turbo V6.

Guys were also swapping 3800 Series II supercharged motors into these about 15 years ago. An ECU flash and smaller SC pulley made for a very, very quick ride.

That yellow one actually doesn't offend.

Current: 85' GTS QV
It's a simple process...... it's just complicated by human beings....

Clear and 32F this morning, but no wind, so it wasn't too uncomfortable. As a result, we had a good turnout. Nothing very exotic - our only Italian was Ed's Fiat 500 Abarth.

It was cold today - high 20's, and a blustery wind. Still, we had a lot of people show up with interesting cars.

Clear skies this morning, and (relatively) warm - in the 40's, even at 8:00AM. That's great weather for late February, and it brought out lots of people. There was something for everybody - several Ferraris, a Noble, Vipers, 2 GTRs, many 911s and Corvettes, 3 Jaguars, 2 NSXs, and even 4 Fieros.

Looks like this was the weather everyone had been waiting for! A huge turnout...
The first picture is of the lot at 9:22AM. The second shot is the snow on the top floor of the parking garage next door.

A good turnout on St. Patrick's day. We enjoyed a visit by a local group of hot rodders.

Easter Sunday, cold and overcast. We got started around 8:15AM, had a respectable group show up, and I left at 9:20, when it started sprinkling. Here's some of what was there...

I was pretty busy with my Lotus group today, and our turnout was very good, but the general Cars & Coffee has gotten enormous! Here are a few general meet pictures I got today, plus some Lotus pics. I couldn't have asked for better weather today.

This every-Sunday Cars & Coffee is turning into quite a large gathering. Lots to see this morning.
