Hurricane Sandy

Last Wednesday, my wife and I took the Lotus on the Amtrak Auto Train down to Florida, to attend the annual Lotus Owners Gathering. We had a great time, but when we arrived at the train station Sunday afternoon, they had cancelled the train. We decided, on the spot, to drive home, even though some people were saying that they heard that I-95 was closed.

The drive back was not bad - we saw practically no rain until we were almost into Virginia, and no winds to speak of until Richmond. We did have a 45-minute stoppage north of Richmond - two tractor trailers involved, which were completely destroyed.

On the drive up, we saw a couple of convoys - ambulances and power trucks, sent toward the storm track by FEMA.

A strange coincidence - as we neared home, we stopped at Wegman's to get some food. We parked nose-to-nose with another Elise. It had a Michigan plate.

One slight miscalculation - we got so involved in buying all the prepared food we found, we forgot we were in the already-stuffed two-seater car. We rode home with bags of food in our laps!

Hope everybody is safe!

We hope to have the damage cleaned up by this coming Saturday so I can join C&C on Sunday at City Dock.

the devastation is truly epic. NY's transportation and that salt water looks months if not years from solving. NJ: What a disaster.

Bryan you will not have to worry about wet basements in Santa Fe!

Admiral- Affirmative. In general, no basements and no rain this month and it would take a 7000' tidal surge to get to Santa Fe. Unlikely.
