Great Falls Village weekly Saturday morning C&C

Looks like this Saturday the weather will be nice for our weekly GF C&C meet. I have to attend a wedding in the afternoon, but will be at the C&C with the TR. Raptor, if you want a ride, please let me know!

I received this email from Bob Morris, the original organizer of this get-together. I think it has been going on for at least 3 years or so.

"Car Buffs:

The official start of Katie's Cars & Coffee will be the first Saturday in April. It will run through the last Saturday in October. Invited are all classic car buffs in the greater metropolitan area. Scheduled time is from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, weather permitting, every Saturday in front of Katie's, which is located at 7601 Walker Road, Great Falls, VA. (If you are not familiar with Great Falls, Katie's is located behind BB&T Bank and the post office off Georgetown Pike, next to The Old Brogue Restaurant.)

Katie's Coffee Shop will reserve all the parking spaces directly across from their entrance, for use by Cars & Coffee participants. There will be signage identifying the reserved spaces.

For those new participants, the concept behind the gathering is threefold: first, it's a pleasant desination on a Saturday morning; second, it's a chance to spend time with other car guys and gals while still being able to get home in time for weekend activities; and third, to have a good cup of coffee and view some really cool cars.

Stay as long as you want and, if you care to head down the road with others for a longer morning drive, that's great too.

The more the merrier, so feel free to share this information with friends and members of area car clubs who might also like to participate. Everything from antique trucks to rare Ferraris are welcome. Local Truimph, Jaguar, Corvette, Austin Healey, Ferrari Clubs, for instance, might be interested in learning about the event. If you have a contact at any of these clubs, please pass the information to me so that I can add them to our database.

Try and join us as many Saturdays as possible to make this a weekly event in Great Falls. Some of us will be there beginning this weekend, since the weather promises to be terrific, so feel free to stop by.
Bob Morris"

I'd love to go with the weather being so great, but I must agree why so early? Anyone interested in driving over from the MD side of the river?

You should be in the yacht yard cleaning and waxing my boat tomorrow Ed

Fiberglass was repaired this week and hull repainted. Now I have the keel, rudder, instrument repairs, interior cleaning and hull waxing.

I just ordered surfer wax for the deck so you don't lose those expensive gay shoes you wear when you slip on the boat - maybe get a pair that floats this year?

No Holy Donut or C&C for me for a few more weeks.

I think these guys do this early to avoid the normal traffic patterns in Northern VA. They drive some pretty heavy cars around and don't want to take too many chances. This would be a great place for the admiral to show up!

regards

ken

Well, I just got off the phone with Ele (the lady I interviewed at St Michaels with the insane Marmon limo with the hidden prohibition liquor stash) She said they closed the bar down each night at the Ritz. Brian Redman and all sorts of folks hanging out. We're hanging with her next year!

funny you should mention that. i happen to be looking for more expensive, more gay shoes for this year right now. Think I'm gonna get some lace ups instead of slip ons for those erratic tacks you make. By the way, my docksiders did float, you just wouldn't go back and get it. Cheaper than hull repair i guess.

Well gents, those of you that were busy this morning, unfortunately, you picked a bad day not to come out. Why? A fellow tifosi brought his resale red Enzo. Very nice gentleman and he actually tracks it. That is the first one I have seen in person and I was shocked how much better it looks in person than in pictures.

There were a good amount of fcars, Enzo, TR, 328, 430, 430 Scud and 500 superfast. Brian sported his ferrari mini.

Katie's Today (03/27/10)

A little cold this morning, but still a pretty good turnout. Had several Ferraris, as usual - a 500 Superfast, a 330, a 430, a 328(?), plus a 430 Scuderia, and an Enzo! We heard the Scuderia coming from a couple of blocks away. An Alfa Touring Superleggera, and a Lancia Fulvia Sport. Two XKEs - one a 12 cyl., a Porsche Turbo, a Morris Minor wagon, a Pantera, a Healey 3000 and a V8 Esprit (though I did not meet the Esprit owner - he parked down the way). A pretty mean-sounding 60's-era 327 Camaro drove thru. A couple of people got there before I did at 7:15AM, but most showed up between 8 and 8:30. Everybody was gone by 9:30. Here are a few pictures. If the weather is good, they plan on having more folks next week.
