I'd say he has a new cell number now (nyuck nyuck). That guy really pissed some people off around here.

So what was the guys deal? I have heard you NoVa guys curse his name both in person and in post, but no one has exactly said what he allegedly did other than some scam involving fake life insurance policies or something like that. Did anybody other than the banks lose out or were some of you guys affected personally?

In the earlier days, he was a hard working guy that helped his family run and then eventually sell some very successful local businesses. It was a common thing to see him busing tables or mopping during busy working hours. The whole family was generous in giving to local charities and participating in (good) business back-scratching. It's what endeared the guy to all of us and was really cool to see an owner who was still willing to get down and dirty every day.

At some point though, he hooked up with some less than savory people and made a very quick downward spiral. Aside from the sources of the cash, he contracted a lot of custom work from a lot of local shops. Some got paid, but some were simply counting on getting paid since up to about 3-4 months before "the end" there were never any issues. Hundreds of thousands of dollars to some pretty small shops.

Greed is a bad bad thing.

Thanks for the welcome, but technically not the first post since this userid was streamlined from my initial join and another from a former job (personal ID was: Thundercougarfalconbird - business ID was: WheelsOnsite)

I also worked for (the old) FoW for three years, so I've been plugged in for a good long time and know more than enough to be dangerous!

Oh, I remember Thundercougarfalconbird and thought that was a pretty good ID. It also explains your current T.C.F.B.

And, all this time I thought you were a newbie taking care of business

IMHO, if they would have let Brian do his job in the honest way he was trying, FOW wouldn't be in the mess they're in now. Brian did his best to treat me well, it was the others that screwed me.

Thanks for the words Kevin, but I was only one member of a great team of people. Leadership was (and continues to be) the problem.

Back to topic. Since this is a Federal case, I wonder if any of the trials or outcomes will be broadcast anywhere?

+1000

If they wanted to fix their problems quickly, they'd bring back the FoW superstars.

Now back to our original program: This guy is no Bernie Madoff.

If he makes amends and contributes back to society he can turn his life around, and in doing so, clear his and his family's name. I'm an eternal optimist.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of the trial.
