Lotus Evora Test Drive
 

I just received an invite in the mail to view/test-drive the new Lotus Evora from Criswell Chevy, did anyone else get one?

"Intruducing the all-new 2010 Lotus Evora, the world's only mid-engine 2+2 vehicle and the only car in the world capable of accelerating from 0-60 in under 5 seconds...".

I received this about a week ago. I'm scheduling my test for 1/30. i'm sure i received this as a former criswell lotus customer/owner. are you also a current/former lotus owner? just wondering if they're sending these to only lotus owners or all criswell customers.

I got one too. BST1 and I will probably be over there the 30th

I've never owned a Lotus although I test drove an Esprit Turbo several years ago and it didn't feel quite right to me at the time, I test drove the new C6 at Criswell awhile back too.... I've RSVP'd for Friday night, Jan. 29, it should be interesting. :thumbsup: Is anyone else planning on going Fri. night?

The Tesla was uniquely developed from the Lotus frame. It only shares 7% of its components with the Elise.

They had a test drive thing going on last summer for Tesla. I wanted to get down there but had something going on that day. I'd like to drive one just for fun one day.

Anyone drive the Lotus? Didn't go due to snow storm. Didn't want to go and NOT drive!

I stopped by there after work and checked out the new Lotus Evora, so here goes, (which was good because it snowed a lot the next day and the wussy's cancelled everything):

Styling
It is a pretty car, even though its' billed as a 2+2, the only way 2 people could possibly sit back there is if Mini-Me was driving and Gary Coleman was in the passenger seat. The engine is visible through glass but oddly its covered with a plastic cover, (I guess they don't want to make it too obvious that a Camry V6 lives under there). The interior is nicely finished but you get the feeling that everything is miniature and a little claustrophobic.

Driving Impressions
It handled very well and I was allowed to push it as much as I'd like and I did - it seemed very peppy, the pedals were nicely spaced apart, the brake pedal is very sensitive. There was a lot of road noise as if there was little or no insulation in the a car. The engine note was very disappointing although he said a performance exhaust would become available....

Overall
After getting out of the car I asked the salesman; what's the sticker and I was staggered to get the reply $85 large plus shipping, tax etc., (I would have guessed 40-50K), spending this kind of money for a sports car I fully expect the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up - sadly not the case here..., I was not feeling it although I'm sure many Lotus diehards will love it.

Good review! They are smoking some good shit though asking $85K for it. I see it being $40-50K a year from now on the used car market.

yeah, you gotta wonder who their market is. that's a weird price point.

Strange price point and way too high. I'd rather buy a vintage 355 :D

Let me preface this by saying that we have always worshipped Lotus and Colin Chapman in our household. We also restored Lotus Europa twin-cams back in the day.

Ok, 85k???????? why would they doom themselves like this?? It's beyond comprehension. If it were me, I'd go for THIS for a lot less than an Evora. And the price difference pays for several years of service.
