Planning to do a road trip in the spring of 2015 through Montana and Wyoming. Maybe Idaho. In a 2014 Cali. Any ideas for routes/ any roads with no posted/ legal speed limits? Have about 7-10 days to play around. Start/end Calgary, Alberta.
Heard there are some highways in Montana with no speed limits... Is this true?
Be VERY careful in Wyoming. There's a stretch of interstate near Cheyenne, as you're crossing the Continental Divide that has a 70 MPH limit going "up" the Divide, and just after you crest it and start going down and picking up more speed, the limit changes to 65. Learned that the hard way as a state cop was parked on the downside behind a rock. First speeding ticket I'd had in 25 years.
Montana roads used to have no limits, but they do now, as all states do. But there are some great twisties and gorgeous scenery on the Beartooth Highway between Cooke City & Red Lodge. (I have a vacation home near Cooke City and can't wait to get the Fcar up there) I've driven the Tail of the Dragon in NC, and IMO, the Beartooth competes very favorably with it.
BTW, the Beartooth probably isn't fully "open" until May due to snow, and it doesn't get plowed all the way to Cooke City.

High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars.
