Hope springs eternal.

Being a Cards fan is easier than being a Cowboys fan right now.

Terry

The Dallas guys are struggling but imagine being a Rams fan and taking it to the 2 yard line for the win with three attempts on Monday night football ... still a lot of fun to watch.

All one has to do is look at Boston last year could be the greatest comeback ever so the Cowboys and the Rams have hope.

In St Louis we have the Blues and the Rams and the Blues are picked to go all the way - should be a fun winter.

Daniel love the optimism

Beltran and Chris Carpenter filed for FA today, I'd imagine 1/2 will be back, I've gotta imagine the Cards will come up with the $ to keep Carlos a cardinal.

I thought Chris Carpenter already announced he was retiring?

I agree, bring Beltran back, 2 years for $25mm or whatever. worth the money.

When Carpenter comes back Brett Favre will be the Rams quarterback.

Lots of work ahead - my guess is jerseys are going to be flying out the door - IR list was brutal this year.

I'm sure Carp is done, but then again, for the right amount of money I'm sure anything can happen. So long as we lock up Beltran, the only spot I see improvement needed at is shortstop. Let's face it, Furcal is gone, and Kozma and Descalso aren't hitting. Then again, it's been almost 20 years and we still haven't found a solid replacement for Ozzie, but really, can you ever replace an Ozzie smith?

Beltran - 80% chance he is gone and need I mention AGAIN he is my favorite playing the game today.

Ozzie - even if there is another out there he will never compare to the Wizard.

It's going to get heated with Miller so perhaps Dewitt will save face and sign Beltran.

The article I read yesterday made it sound like Shelby Miller was pissed at the cardinals for his lack of use, that'll be a story to watch

I would like to hear it from the horses mouth - both sides will get their day but this will tarnish Dewitt.

MM won't utter a word but someone who gets traded or let get go will.

I'm in agreement - read his quote, he does show a lot of class in his questioning the decision: Shelby Miller is confused about why the Cardinals didn’t use him in the playoffs | HardballTalk

My thought and if it's right

Miller was pre - traded to Colorado for the HITTING short stop - part of the deal was not to use Miller.

Now why he remained on the roster is baffling - which is why I think Dewitt is going to have egg on his face ... and rightfully so because if Miller relieved let alone started vs Lynn and others he would have shut Boston down much more efficiently.

What are your guys thoughts on the Cards making Barry Zito a 1 year, $15MM offer? Zito is hit and miss , but like Beltran , he's playing for one more big contract. Something about playing for a 5 year 75MM+ contract always seems to turn eh pitchers into Cy Young in contract years

I'm intrigued, I don't know if it's an "absolutely do that deal" sort of thing but I could see where it would work out in our favor. if Dave Duncan were to return for '14, he would be the perfect guy to work with Zito.

I think it's worth a shot. Doesn't hurt that his wife is originally from Missouri- she grew up in some wide spot in the road near Cape Girardeau and attended Lindenwood University. Oh yeah, and she was Miss Missouri a few years ago.
