Wineries with Ferrari Connection

Figured I would ask here. What wineries are owned by Ferrari people? I know that the Far Niente family (Nickel) have been and remain collectible Ferrari folks. Andretti would qualify too.

In particular I am looking to try enticing a winery into a roll at the 2013 Ferrari Club of America Annual Meet in Elkhart Lake.

Gil Nickel passed away a couple of years ago. The family so far have kept most of the cars but it was Gil that had the passion for them.

Mario Andretti has a winery in Napa.

Ferrari Carano is just a name. No connection

David Raffanelli, owner of Raffanelli Winery (very good Cab BTW) is a life long car guy with eclectic car tastes and has owned several Ferrari's. Last I heard he had a 430 but would not be surprised if it has or will be replaced by a 458.

Testarossa winery in Los Gatos is owned by a Testarossa owner. The name however comes from the fact he is a redhead and got the nick name studying wine making in Italy.

I am sure there are others but can't think of any more right now.

Rob Jensen, the owner of Testarossa was very involved in our National Meet in 2004. He made specially labeled bottles among other things.

There's Ferrari-Carano, but I don't know who owns them.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

Casino operators from Nevada.

Stunning winery BTW. Worth a visit.

Wineries are like horse ranches. It is what people do with their money AFTER making it.

Running the idea past Mario would be my choice. Bring him in as the guest speaker at the awards dinner too. He's a great talker.

Do you have a connection to him to be able to ask? We would certainly be interested as some of the storylines for the event are about the 50 years of Ferrari and the club. He certainly bridges the changes from the end of gentlemen racers to the "pot of gold" that came with Ford in the mid 1960s and into the current mega money.

Not to poo poo this because things change, but we actually approached Mario and Testarossa about being speaker/sponsor/gratis participants for the 2006 meet in exchange for the opportunity to display their products to an elite clientele. Neither expressed much interested if I recall. Not a big enough venue or interest. YMMV. I wish you all the luck this Jeff.

Current: 85' GTS QV
It's a simple process...... it's just complicated by human beings....

Understand that this may not be an easy one to get direct participation for. Depending on the answers from specific wineries will also be working with the wine & liquor distributors for the Elkhart Lake area.

I am headed out to Cali in Feb. for a few weeks.

Looking forward to renting a Ferrari and visiting the wineries.

The Event Chair has already been told of your planned attendance and how Sabina has researched the Spa portion of Resort & Spa.

Doug,

I will let you know about the March meeting in Chicago when a date is set. Everyone would enjoy having more organizing participation.

Andy is going to work on making a good presentation level package to solicite sponsorship. I have 3 people lined up that have shown a level of interest. There is also a "whale" level sponsor that is showing consideration - will get them a special version of the presentation. If you have thoughts/candidates/connections for this then we are all ears.

I will be doing some sort of small presentation panels that will be placed throughout the public areas. These will have tidbits of information on Ferrari, Ferrari in the US, 50 years of the FCA and other such useless factoids that I am known for.

When I lived in Santa Rosa, the word is that Harrah's owned Ferrari-Carano. The grounds are gorgeous, that is what we go for, not their wine.

Dave & Patty Rafanelli host the FCA from time to time and it is a great visit

The Caranos are Reno casino people. Mr. Carano was an attorney in Reno doing casino related law prior to opening his own casino. In the past I was told that the "Ferrari" of Ferrari-Carano is related to Mrs. Carano's family history but has nothing to do with Enzo.
