512TR - Euro

Asking the experts - looking at a Canada Euro 512.

Any concerns about bringing it to the US?

I have seen other Euro 512's in the US but not sure how difficult the process is.

Doug- I am not sure what Canada's rules were in 1992-1994 compared to US rules. Later Canadian and US rules were the same. If they were the same in the early 90s, then probably only a matter of paying customs and having a US remanufacturer submit the paperwork showing she was brought up to standards. Assuming the owners still have the compliance paperwork. In 2 years, a 92 will be 25 years old and no sweat.

512TR - Euro

Coming over to the dark side Doug?

I saw a 6-speed 2007 F430 today I'd like to trade my TR for - nice car, 18k miles, red/tan. My TR is in for its major - I put 10,000 miles on it in 7 years, my tech said I could go another year on the belts, but I want to play it safe.

Good-luck. I think TRs are still a bargain today.

Thanks Terry - it just seems like a PIA but talking to the seller tomm.

There is a 512M coming to auction next week - would like a 512 but love an M.

I know many dislike the looks of the M - but there are some things I love!

Missed a yellow 512M that was on e-bay last month.

Al - 430 6 speed is a perfect match.

Doug- I remember a yellow 512 TR with 36,000 miles going begging for quite a while at $88K. Those days are gone. I much, much prefer the 512 TR to the F512M, and the performance difference is negligible.

One report states that Testarossa prices increased 140% last year Doug.

He who hesitates is lost.

I think the train has left the station, and it's picking up steam. I hope you can catch it at the next stop. Life's too short to have never owned a flat 12.

512TR - Euro

Doug, from other site attributed to Boxerman.

I think he's spot on regarding the TR market:

"...Lets look at it another way. Daytonas are 750k and flat, Dinos 350-400K and flat. they both grew hugely in value. Even boxer are now around 300K. That means for buyers in the 200-500K range a whole lot of cars are no longer potential purchases.

The pool of buyers below 200K or 300K is much larger than the pool in the 350-1mill range. Somehting "claassic" has to fill the price ranges formerly ocupied by Boxers and Dinos, Trs now fill that spot. So Trs will be in the 90-250K range. 308s are now filling the range previously ocupied by Trs. If daytonas and boxers and dinos fall, then those choices become available again in a lower price range and Trs and 308s will fall.
If those higher prices cars maintain their value more or less, even if flat, Trs will stay where they are and settle into the 90-250K range depending on condition spec.. If you look at current Tr prices then, its poretty clear there isa big potential pool of buyers, and there is still some room for dealer to make money/appreciation. Wheras for Dinos and Trs there is no reall appreciation comming and supply at current pices seems balanced. Of course there are some other factors, with the Euro dropping we are probably seeing soem money going into cars as alternative asetts, but at a certain point the prices europeans can pay will drop due to exchange rates. Ont he positives the Tr is iconic, and its time period is coming.

It you own a Tr at 90-120k, other than maintanace costs you cant loose, and over time even with that you will gain..."

I have watched many Ferrari's increase since my 612 purchase. The TR Dino Stradale 550B 575SA and many others.

Lately I have seen the same car within 30 days have a 50k increase.

Watched my CGT go from 400 to 600k - it's nice but it's just chirping in the winter while they sit idle.

Buy em to drive em - it's a hobby and while it's nice to see them rise the majority of guys wipe their car with a diaper vs red line but to each their own.

Older collectible cars never depreciate especially Ferrari. Similar to owning a blue chip stock - difference is you get to hang with a cool mechanic cool guys and run em instead of guy in a tie that sucks the life out of you.

No offense brokers and bankers aren't high on my list of getting the blood pumping - they offer print that's worth the paper it's printed on.

Terry I prefer the 512M but I don't claim to have good taste

I have those in 1/18th

There isn't a race car alive that I don't like but those are special!

Anyway - any idea how much less the the 512 is worth based on it being a Euro my thinking is 10%.
