Anybody know of the Testarossa that was caught in Hurricane Sandy?

I recently bought the US Testarossa that was caught in Hurricane Sandy. I now have the car in the UK, and it's with a Ferrari dealer here having a full belts service along with other things.

I was hoping to be able to come on here & trace a bit of it's history. Anyone know anything about the car?

In particular owners? Service records? etc etc.

Here is the car as it stands now. Such a magnificent car.

No but- if I may-
It is a beautiful car. Year/miles? Was it from NY or other?
How did you find it? And why take a water damaged car to such lengths?

1. How does one move a car across the pond ( I'm thinking the other direction)
2. Is it a morass of red tape ( read use a broker).

I am happy to see it is being saved. Drive it well.

Scott

Well........... I bought my 550 & then fell in love with the whole Ferrari thing so I had to have another. A friend saw this on eBay & knew I would want it. Anyway, a deal was done within a few days.

I purchased the car from Europe, the owner purchased it directly from an insurance company in the states. The flood damage was a bit of an overstatement. Ok, the carpets were replaced as was the fuse box with a Dave Helms unit.

I was expecting a project to arrive, but honestly this car is as close to perfect as anyone could hope!!!! It truly is beautiful, and was clearly very loved in the US.

It's an '88 Testarossa with 22,000 miles on the clock.

I had the car registered over here within 10 days at a cost of 55.00.

I now drive it every day as I do with my 550 Maranello. Not a bad pairing at the grand old age of 30 :-p

Well Played Sir

Are there any issues getting MOT with US spec cars- or is it easy in that direction-
DO LHD cars have any MOT issues or they are fine out of the box ?

In the US 25 years or older there are no issues with DOT conversion so the Euro cars look good at that point. This is 25 years old, is it the same in the UK?

thanks

No issues at all.

There was a lot of questions raised by forum members at the time of import, which quite frankly scared me, but after speaking with our DVLA dept here on the phone, they advised me to fill the paperwork in in a certain way & this assured it's safe arrival back with me within 10 days.

The car flew through it's MOT (test of roadworthiness), with out any advisories.

In the Uk the exhaust emissions are quite strict, but on a car of this age an emissions test is not necessary.

All very easy. Very happy. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404457526.547959.jpg

Hi James did you import this directly from the States yourself or buy it in Europe, it having already been brought in to the continent. If it's the later, one would assume that would make a big difference in the ease of gaining UK registration etc, as all the importation into the Eurozone issues would have been dealt with.

Cheers
Michael

The original owner was an actor called Rui M Silva, from New Jersey.

Any further news/history on this car would be very welcomed. It must have been to shows, meets, drives with other Ferrari's during it's life? It's very much a loved car & therefore it must have been owned by a Ferrari enthusiast.

Well done!

The exchange rate is pretty attractive - surprised more cars aren't crossing the pond.
