I have a client with a Red Tan 93 for sale. It has a little under 20k miles.

How do you define the right car?

I can put you in touch if need be. I have no interest in being a middle man.

Doug- Why would you want a 20+ year old car with less than 20K miles? They like to be driven.

Even though Brian did have great luck with a garage queen TR.

Not that unusual. I see them all the time. Most of my clients have 5 or more cars and get 1 or 2 days a month to use them.

I have a TR here right now. Part of the collection for the CEO of a very well known American corporation. He works on the east coast and lives about 15 miles from here. Once or twice a month he takes the G5 home and if he has the time he will drive one of them. I pick the car up at the house once every 2 years, service it from asshole to appetite and put it back in the garage and plug it in. I put more miles on it than he does. He wants it ready on a moments notice and I keep it that way for him, but he almost never uses it.

That's my life every week. That's why I say all the stuff about garage queens and disconnected speedometers is crap. I have a great deal of experience in the matter.

I was recently made an offer to move to Florida to look after a couple of larger collections and doing nothing but that. I see far more Ferrari's getting used a few days a year than a few days a week. A lot of people like me are employed looking after them.

People that use their Ferrari every week are in my experience the exception, not the rule. I do have a few clients that use a Ferrari every week but they have several.

If you come across any with very low mileage please call me. I just do not drive them very often because I am very, very, very anal. The weather conditions have to be perfect here in Kansas. Also did you do all the service on the car? Any insight? Thank you very much.

Brian- Mine gets driven 2-4 times a week and already has 21,500 miles. Value must be close to zero. Hope to put 100,000 miles on her.

But then, I am not rich like most of your clients.

Funny how that works. The first year I had my 308 I put 10k miles on it. Daily driver April-December.

Since I do not get involved in car sales that is unlikely to happen. The great cars, especially from a collector or long time multiple car owner never gets on the radar screen. Those cars go from a brokers seller list to a looking for list. The way to find those is to be on the list. Look at FML, Cavillino, FCA news letter and figure out from the ads who those guys are. Tell them you're looking. The car you are looking for will never be advertised.

No, only a small list of items on a recent visit. Had I known you were looking for an as new car it would have been different.

Call Brandon at 650-558-8255 and Joe at 949-363-9013. Don't bother with anyone else on the West Coast.

Tell them I told you to call but better not to tell them I told you to call both.
