How many "flying mirror" Testarossas were produced?

Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction? I'm writing a piece on my Dad's TR (SN 56429), and I'd love to know how many of the early flying mirror Testarossas were made. Any verifiable sources out there on this? I've already poured through three of my Dad's Testarossa books and came up empty.

Thanks everyone... I'm also posted on FerrariChat.

Cynthia- Have not seen any numbers on the 85/86 single mirror cars. Total TR production was 7177, of which 438 were UK RHD. As usual for any Ferrari run, initial demand is very high and then tends to taper off. Would guess that about 35-45% of production was single mirror. If you were looking for a lower number and rarity, probably not, because the TR was the best selling 12 cylinder Ferrari by far, with just less than 10,000 (9957) built for all three models during an 11-12 year production cycle.

Hi Taz, Thanks. I think the number for flying mirror is much lower because they were only on the 85-86 cars. I'd say not even 20% of the TRs out there have the flying mirror. But I'm no expert on the TR! I wrote up the car differently in the end because I don't feel comfortable putting down a number. I just wrote that the flying mirror was only on the early productions....

Cynthia- Probably wise, because I would not believe a 20% number.

Red Headed - Testarossa
looking at production numbers here there was a total of 1497 cars produced up to and including 1986
110 in 1984
568 in 1985
819 in 1986

if we were to assume that all Testarossa produced in 86 had a single flying mirror (which we know is not true) this would mean that 1497 cars out of 7177 had a single mirror
as the switch from single mirror to twin mirror happened sometime in 1986, we can know for sure that no more than 20% of the cars had a single flying mirror

if instead, more realistically we were to assume that only half of the Testarossa produced in 1986 had a single mirror this would bring a total number of single mirrors to only 1088 which is about 15% of total production

I do however think that 15% is a very very conservative estimate, as I believe that the switch to twin mirrors happened early on in 1986, and number of single mirrors is actually much lower than that

Ferrari shows the mirror change happened at 67077. That coincides with September 86 (prob done at model changeover time).

Pretty safe to say that the vast majority of 86 cars had single mirrors.

They are not rare.
