Its undergoing the MAJOR!!!

So I finally brought my Testarossa in for the 30K major. Its been there just shy of a week. The mechanics say it looks good just standard stuff so far.

This puts my bill at $5500 for the 30K major, I'll let you guys know what else they find.

I did have my rims sent out to bring back to stock condition (someone thought chrome would look nice) for about $800. But I am just going to tally the actual costs of this service. Lets hope it stays $5500 plus tax!!!!

I am seeking some input. Do you think by now they would have found most of the issues? For those gear-heads who have actually done it themselves or are familiar with the process. Once the engine is out do you discover most issues at this point in the service, or is it something you could find out after? For example, if the fuel distributors need rebuilding?

PS- the first pic shows my old daily driver Porsche and my new one!!!

Don't torture yourself like that

Hope for the best and you'll get it. Looking forward to seeing the update in this thread that says, "I just picked up the car and am taking it for a nice weekend drive"

A good shop will look over all the major ticks, but I'd make sure to inquire anyway and also understand what/who is mfgr'ing the replacement parts. Hill etc.

Is that a well known shop?

Got it back :)

I did 100 miles first night I had it.
Left the house around 9 got home at 1am and it was FUUUNNNNNNN. Really runs amazing couldn't be happier!!! And for those of you paying attention I actually have to go in and out of that driveway every day. Its basically got a couple inches on each side, I am so happy the mirrors fold! Even got new carpets in time so I'm all set to rack up the miles

It's always good to get their baby back after getting a spruce up. I would have done the same: take a long drive. enjoy the weekend.

Lookin' good! The TR is such a great car - maybe the best exhaust note of any street car ever.

Very nice and she looks great. Nothing says Ferrari like a TR.

isn't it a wonderful quirk of human nature that a $5500 bill can be assuaged a by a 100 mile drive. I have just had my belts and tensioners arrive from Rutlands and once my patio is finished..... the winter months will just fly by (by golly) The camera battery will be fully charged for the upcoming debacle.

Lovely car Testala, and my driveway is similar BTW.

I live in the LA area and just bought a black '85 testarossa that needs a 30k service. What is the name of the shop in the pics? Did you really get out the door for $5500 for a major?

I was planning to do the service myself over a period of months, but that shop sounds great (look at all the TRs!) and this way I could enjoy my new purchase immediately.

Sounds like a good deal and she looks great. Assume those are 512 TR wheels?

Who did the work? Some interesting cars in the background.

$5500 is definitely a good price. Mine will start at $6500 and god knows where from there. I know she's clean (8800 miles) but she was practically in storage for over 10 years. I'll let you guys know in a few weeks but all i'm looking forward to is a nice drive.
