Teenager Crashes LaFerrari

From the article:
Very little is currently known about this incident, although reports suggest a teenager was driving. The extremely wet roads probably serve as a good indication as to how the accident happened. The car has suffered major damage all over, with the back wheel twisted inwards, the body panels smashed and loose, and the airbags deployed. It looks doubtful that this LaFerrari will ever see the roads again.

definitely Taz, wit this proviso: completely different and new 'chassis' and everything else supplied by Ferrari S.p.A; same original build plaque unless it was destroyed or severely damaged in which case a new one will be supplied, the resulting vehicle 'classische' certified. Oh commerce!

an adult who would permit his or her teenager at the wheel of a Ferrari tha wound up in an accident like this, suggesting a total lack of training, experience and competence, might earn a serious jail sentence if I were the judge. Wonder if the kid lived

Let's not jump to conclusions - I have seen so many bogus reports on incidents like this. People always like to invent things to make a story even more sensational.

Sad to see this LaF in this state. I will say that it is much easier than a lot of (unknowing) people think to crash a car like this. You do need reasonable training, a fair amount of skill, and a sensible head to drive these cars safely. I think in many ways it is not all that reasonable to ask of people that they understand what they are driving, since it is so far removed from what they know. A proper driving course should be mandatory with these cars.

But it is also perfectly possible to crash a LaFerrari if you DO know what you are doing (we can all make mistakes, and sometimes the road is not as grippy as we expect). So let us hold off judgement since we don't know what happened.

I hope all involved are alright.

I'm not so sure it will happen in the short run Taz. I would imagine the original owner won't want it back, even if it is repaired. And if you have the money to fix it, you probably have the money to buy another one. But I agree, it will eventually be repaired - even the Gas Monkey F40 was bought....

exactly. Kind of a tradition from back in the day. In the 1950s there were several examples where Ferrari would take a car that had just been thoroughly thrashed in a 1000k road race, maybe remove the dead bugs, and then sell it as "new" to a privateer.

Onno, with the greatest respect, please take another look at the crash photo. To have suffered that extent of damage, basically a complete write-off, that car must have been driven at very high speed on very wet tarmac. Utterly reckless by a driver of any age.

Guy Who Crashed LaFerrari in China Is 27

From the article:
According to the latest intel from the People's Republic, the owner of the car, is Qin "King" Fen. He has a whole secret stash of supercars, which includes a white McLaren P1, a one-off Koenigsegg Agera R, a matte black G65 AMG, and many others that are stashed away in a secret garage somewhere in Shanghai. He also owns a jet and even a submarine.
