"F" autumn joy
Days go shorter, air gets cooler, dirt on the road from farmers harvesting the sugar beets uglier....time to exercise "F" as condition will not get better anymore this year. This afternoon was such a occasion. Doing all day long all those things we need to do (but which we do not like to do) I became more nervous by the minute as the sunny sky at mid afternoon slowly started to get cloudier. Forget about the garden, the garbage, the food buying, the office work, the holiday packing...I need to sit in "F". A short eye catch to my daughter which was waiting all day for "that" eye catch and off we went to the garage. Quickly unwrapping, key in, gear out.....and I let my daughter start the engine, 2 minutes at idle, a quick couple of Iphone photographs for all my Enthusiast friends here and off we go. After about 5 minutes, water and oil gauges both show 3 "bricks"...ready for more spirit then. Nevertheless, the drive thru forrests on the left and right with those beautiful coloured autumn leaves is done with 3-3.500 rpm's, up and down the slight hills, some brisk accelerations to feel the engine in the spine up to 6'000 rpm's in between. The ever existent sweet smell of the carbon cabin gets more pronounced as with the hard top on, the warm airflow from the hot engine back into the cabin is not existent anymore (opposite to the barchetta version). Cabin feeling is very cosy and neat....something to become a living room
After the calmer driving on normal roads and 30km's, we headed back over the Autobahn. Already the entry road to the Autobahn is fun as one approaches the Autobahn with 40-50km and then accelerate up to .........shriek territory with many hands up from repassed drivers. Cabin, smell, shriek....poor joy. Another 30 km later...soft landing in the garage. Usual "debriefing" (cleaning, checking, touching) and the broad smile of a daughter leaves a late afternoon to the memory part in the brain. Happy saturday evening to all of you !
