Pablo, a good paintshop can fix this for you, it's on a corner so i don't think its hard to fix!
No need to respray the whole panel, these days the guys at good paintshops do great jobs on this kind of damage!

Pablo, I feel your pain when we suffer these accidents. I would have kicked both myself and the metal box!

I think you have been very lucky though. Your paint shop or detailer should be able to make this easily disappear.

A friend taught me years ago to be thankful when this type of mishaps occurs. His reasoning was that fate used it to replace a much worse problem that could have occurred in its place. I suppose it's a bit like don't worry too much about a broken toe if it could have been a broken neck!!

David.

Sometimes a little mishap like this is a positive thing in the long run.

A nick here, a scratch there adds some character and you'll worry less about keeping everything perfect which sometimes adds to the enjoyment. Plus, you'll know a good paint shop after this who should be able to help out when/if something like it happens again.

Uh-oh, the car is totaled. I'll buy it off you for salvage price.

Pablo:

can feel the pain! But i think, "bretm" is right! This is what will happen, (and You will do some scratches to Your cars again)!

My Father once parked the F40 and hit our S2000 slightly... The s2000 is long gone, and the black paint scratch still on the F40

I won´t put to much money into this to fix. Some spot repair as suggested, or maybe like we do, some touch up paint and wait for a respray...

Find a really talented painter and get as good a small spot repair as they can do.

I strongly suggest avoiding repainting of the entire panel.

I would get it touched up and not worry about it. Stuff happens. What is great is that your were going out for a drive in a F40.

Sorry to make light of your trouble - I know how deflating it can be when something like that happens. The bright side is you're above ground and you have some of the coolest cars in the world. A good paint / body guy can have you sorted in a jiffy and it'll be like it never happened.

Pablo- Just remember, all the 250 GTOs have been repainted, many several times, and several have even been rebodied. They got roughed up pretty heavily over their racing careers, and many are still racing. In general, they look pretty good right now and yours will, too.

Good news is, it is just paint, and touching up that small scratch is no problem for a good paint man. Once the white disappears, you will feel better about the whole thing.

Brother,

My sympathies for you, I know how it feels. But like Boxer says, be happy you were out stirring up dust in your fabulous car rather than worshipping it in the garage only. Great car, keep enjoying it in good health!
