Looking to buy an F40!

Hi,

I've got a 430 Scuderia which is great but am now looking to add an F40 as well. I know quite a few people on the forum are looking too but i'd be very interested if anyone knows of a reputable car that's available for sale? I intend to use the car so anything under 10k km's would be good.

I'm based in the UK so a European spec car that's non-cat/non-adjust would be great.

Many thanks,

Sam

Welcome Sam!

So far the best I have seen is located in the UK at DK Engineering (Hertfordshire), although you'll need to ask for the price.

Used Ferrari F40 - NonCat & NonAdj - Recent Tanks & ... for sale - PistonHeads (Ref 1339831)

Here is the important part of the description:

"This car is an early and more desirable Non-Cat and Non-adjustable suspension model that was supplied new in May 1989 by Auto Becker in Germany to a Mr Josef Horst. The car remained with Mr Horst until 1998 when the car was purchased by DK Engineering with just 1,350 kms on the clock! The car was actually driven back to UK by DK’s Jeremy Cottingham and we promptly prepared and supplied it to the second owner. The car remained in the second owners care until approximately 2001 when DK assisted with the sale of the car to the third owner.
Now the car is with its fourth owner and still in the UK. In June 2011 it had a full a nd thorough service when the fuel tanks were renewed, the seats refreshed, some remedial paintwork was carried out and a full and through detail of the whole car was executed making it what we would consider very close to concours standard. At this time the car was awarded full Classiche Certification.
Today the car is presented in superb condition with just 9,700 kms indicated from new. The car is accompanied with a very comprehensive file detailing the majority of works and even includes photos from when we first purchased the car in 1998. The car is UK registered and available to view immediately along with its detailed history file and original book pack at our showrooms just outside London."

Although she had four owners but at least DK was participating each time she was sold and has a full service history with Classiche Certification, under 10k mileage. Seems to be a good one.

Sam- Welcome. An F40 with less than 10,000 kms would have been driven at most 500 kms per year. Not much exercise unless the odometer/speedometer was disconnected.

Sam, If you intend to use it fairly often, one with an adjustable suspension is highly recommended.

Not necessarily a problem as F40's tend to be very well maintained.

I've viewed the Landmark car, the DK car is now sold but they have got another that's just come in so will head over and have a look..

If anyone knows of any that aren't presently advertisied by all means let me know as it would be greatly appreciated.

Have a good weekend.

Is this car still available? does anyone know the pricing? I assume it will be eligible for import to the US on Jan 1, 2014?

I have left several voice mails and sent emails about this car over the past month or more - none ever returned. I would presume it is no longer available, although a courteous reply would have been nice.

The way prices are going I think you'll find owners will be holding onto their cars now and waiting for next summer.

I know I and a mate with 2 F40's are both doing just that, especially when you look at where F50's have gone in the last 2 months!

Good luck in your quest.
White stuff falling out of sky causing 40 and 3 to be parked in heated garage here in Midwest.
Only consolation is the (temporary) savings in fuel.
Awaiting spring... high rpm's and low mpg's.
Best.

Yet another dream bites the dust.

Well my future F40 dreams have probably suffered a fatal blow. An F40 is currently for sale for $1,450,000 AUD. Add another $100,000 for rego etc and you can even drive it on the roads. One year ago $650,000 plus $40,000 on roads would have done it. He who hesitates ....

David.
