F 50 ...lofty price at Gooding Scotsdale auction

As seen previously with 330 GTC and 246 GTS auction results tendencies here the latest example/result from our well known source directly from Scotsdale:

F50 sold for USD 1.25 Mio. + 10% commission charge = 1.375 Mio. $ in total

I believe the market is getting rapidly ahead of itself...just my 0.02.

In a recession the production sector runs small and does not absorbs lots of available capital. Thats why available capital finds its way to other form of investment, may those be good or not. With the totally manipulated way the central banks create unneeded and unhelpful waste of liquidity, the chance of huge mal allocation of capital becomes bigger and bigger.....hence...you need a long recession or recession like situation to create potential for big mal allocation of capital....and this maybe one example of it. Just my 0.02

About 1'100 km's, a very low mile example. That may give some idea about why the price was so high. Nevertheless...double the "normal" price ? (Difference would finance about 5-6 spare engines ) I would rate it an anomaly...like the $500 for 330 GTC's and 246 Dino's....maybe!

I agree with you 212Export. It is a crazy number for such a car! By the time that buyer puts 10,000 kms enjoying the car it will drop half a million dollars. That is 50 dollars the kms. Too much for my taste!

Wealthy bidders at a high profile venue will always pay more for a rare item.

There is far more wealth than the finest examples of automobiles.

Yes!

I have a friend who owns a large inventory of cars in STL and I am sure smiles a mile wide when he takes cars to auctions and two or three loopy bidders take it off the charts.

Here is a link - his really good cars are never listed.

Yeah it's very easy to get carried away at auction. I'm sure we can all agree on that.

Especially if you have had somebody sell it to you before hand telling you it's the one to own, the last of the low mileage, pristine condition. Ironically if it was in a showroom somewhere for the same money it would sit there for a long time.

Agree and the poor salesman would get abused over the price.

I have to disagree a little.... I'd say these people have wealth, gut and a little bit of brain... so they continue to multiply their wealth! They all jump into the "gravy" train and probably only one or two got hurt when the train stops.

I, for one, am using too much of my little brain and thinking too much about buying a classic car, and watching every year the prices kept going up and up

Which is why I dont buy at auctions.

If Enzos are $1 mil cars, not reason F50s should be as well. They are rarer and more fun to drive.

Pablo - my guess is the F50 will be in stored in a collection.

Boxer - the best examples of the F40 F50 Enzo IMO will all move much closer in price to one another.

Gus- When someone pays double for a car at auction, that shows little brains to me. Like the $300K Superamerica or the $170K Renault 2CV 4wd. If you want a car like that, do your homework and find the best one and best deal you can make, not show off at an auction.

Boxer , are you saying that Enzos are almost as fun to drive as an F50?
