F40 at last...

Finally i got my F40 delivered.... I can not describe my joy!!!!
My heart was pounding and i had buterflys in my stomach!!!!!
It was 10 times better that what i expected and more , just by looking at it.
I have to mention that i had never seen one in real life so this was my first and on top of it mine!!!!
Since i got it delivered in Cannes i went here for a drive but the traffic is so bad i have not had the chance to enjoy it fully. But regardless of that i am very , very , happy!:crown grin:
My wife forgot the camera and so did i , so for now pictures will have to wait
One question for you guys is that the breaks sound horrible!!!!!!!!
What can i do?
Will keep reporting...

Current:F12, F40 , F50 , Enzo , Mclaren P1

Hi Pablo,

You can change the brake pads but all F40s i know had squeaking brakes. Its annoying but normal.

The A/C on the F40 works very nice! I mention it because i was told that is was very inefficient but to be fair it is nice and cold.
Obviously is not the A/C of a modern car but i was expecting something worst. Just wanted to mention that!

Congrats Pablo! All the best. She is going to bring you many more smiles and enjoyment over the months and years of driving her.

Not having seen an F40 in person, that must have made the delivery experience even that much more exciting for you. Could just imagine. Fantastic!

Please post photos when you can.

Enjoy and happy driving!

Congrats Pablo, there's some other members on here with the F40 who could help you.

Now how about a F430 side by side shot with that Dino and F430

Congrats Pablo! The F40 is such an amazing car. To rid the car of brake squeal, you'll want to change the brake pad compound. Sometimes changing pads and not rotors will still create a squeal...on most cars i recommend doing them together.

Please keep in mind though, changin the brake pads to quiet the squeal means they will have less "bite" and slightly less aggressive braking power.

Than you can try with new brake pads and resurfaced discs... Than gently break in and maybe it is away...

And put a very small amount of brake assembly compound on the rear side facing to the pistons and on the caliper the face, on wich the pad is sliding. But please just a tiny bit!

Very cool Pablo. I saw your car just before it went on the truck, looked really good! I like the solution for the Satnav Alex made, looked very neat. Enjoy the car!

Enjoy in good health!

On the brakes, I used similar pad compounds on my Porsche '79 935 K3, they squeal horrid but when they get up to temp (giving the car good excercise) they quiet down and lose the squeal. But again, when they cool back down from optimum operating temps they will squeal again.

It IS a race car after all!

Pablo- Way to go. looking forward to photos.

There are tricks for getting rid of the squeal, including anti-squeal spray and shims, and drilling small holes in the pads for pencil lead. In general, though, those types of pads (Pagid, probably) tend to squeal. The other option is to change pads.

But changing the pad will be a solution? Because i do not want to change them and end up with the same problem!
What about up grading the breaks all together? Too crazy?

Pablo- No, not crazy. Those are late 80s brakes so there have been lots of improvements. You could even put Mov'Its on her if you really want to go crazy. Way better than Brembos.
