Beautiful Swiss 288 GTO

My trusted mechanic just received a absolutely stunning 288 GTO to do work on it. The car has 7'km's, is extremely crisp and beautiful, about as good as the first 288 GTO I looked at in Switzerland for Jimmy.
Interestingly, the 288 GTO's have never been homologated in Switzerland. An owner only is able to drive it either on "garage/dealer" plates or prefinance a very expensive single homologation/roadworthiness test for his/this chassis number alone with unknown outcome. As far as I know, knobody has done that here.
That is why this particular beauty has found its way to my mechanic, as he is trully specialized on the Turbo era cars. Hopefully it will work out successfully for the happy owner !
Thru the process of doing that, the car needs to be tested and driven and retested. Will be interesting to practically follow up that process.

Some photos should follow shortly.

One hardly can imagine that this car is already 27 years old and unrestored.

There is this dealer north of Tokyo, who still owns two 288 in his fleet and I understand their mileage is around couple hundred, at best. You would not even want to bother asking the price.

PS. Rolf, you must have your antenna all over because you seem to have so many resources to all these exotics in Swiss !!!

I sure do wish my love / need to own a Ferrari began 10 years earlier.

Being in the midwest really does limit one's vision.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the nice pictures!

This car never ceases to blow my mind. I just don't understand how so little aesthetic differences can end up building such a huge gap between the 328 and the 288 in terms of aura (no offense to 328 owners, your cars are beautiful too, only not as strikingly impressive as the 288, IMHO).

Not really, as I feel more like these chances are just "jumping" at me over and over again. With hardly 7 million people in Switzerland, the F- community with REALLY interesting cars becomes more familiar over time and seems "overseeable". As I'm not on the "hunt" personally I'm more free to detect and enjoy.

Pablo, if you mean the dealer here that I mentioned,... he said his starting point of talking deal is 100,000,000 JPYen !!! At todays exchange rate, I think that is well north of 1.2 millions US $ !!!

Indeed, Pablo. Like I said, his starting point is that ! That means if you wish to make an offer below that, he would not even consider it.
