I find these plates slagging off other brands tasteless, childish, and pathetic. Perhaps I'm alone in this.
I'm with you now. I had 8AVETTE on a Galant and it was a hoot at the track with that on there. 450 hp, All wheel drive 1991 Galant VR-4 with that plate confused many folks. BUT I don't think I'll put it on anything else other than have it hanging in my garage. The 308 would look pretty stupid with it but there was a big difference between the perception of a 20 year old Mitsubishi and a Ferrari.
Back in 1990's, went to a track event with F-40 and Audi S4. Nice guy had a juiced-up Japanese hotrod (wish I could remember exact model) with plate "JAPN F40". Still have pix somewhere of the cars parked together.
Autoweek later had article on a nice NSX that they tested at the event. For the article, they ran a photo of their NSX parked in the paddock next to the F-40 and the Audi. Had to show the picture to my wife, telling her she owned 2 of the 3 cars in the Autoweek photo.
One of the joys of life is that it offers endless variety. I've seen lots of people read my plates and laugh, take pictures, offer thumbs up, etc. If the downside is that some people find it not to their taste... so be it.
Cheers, Ben ( Too many toys, not enough garage space! )
