F50 Part FOUND ! Shut off roll valve

I am having the tanks changed on my F50 right now. When the old one was pulled they found that one of the shut off roll valves was cracked. Ferrari is having a hard time locating the part in Europe. Any suggestions on where we might be able to source one?

Sorry, no idea on a source.

But, provided you're not concerned with cosmetics, that is very fixable if you can't find a new one.

Brian may know.

Is this internally mounted or externally? IF externally and not caring too much on originality, cannot an aftermarket be installed? Seems rather generic to me

and really agree with Killer, that looks easy enough to re-mfgr even for a gas part.

David- I was thinking the same thing. Reglued/epoxied or cut/sanded smooth and an aluminum or SS tube threaded in.

The problem with repair is that the plastic gets brittle and it will break somewhere else given time. It is a different design than in any other model I am aware of. Adapting one from another model may be possible.

On parts like that I look at who made it and start thinking about what other cars may use it. If it is Italian it might be Ferrari only but if it is from another European country it is very possible from a BMW, Volvo or Saab. For some reason Ferrari has a lot of commonality with those makes. The good part is many of those suppliers have photos and an internet search may be fruitful.

Those are generically referred to as roll over valves or fuel tank vent valves. I just scanned ebay and saw one for a Jeep that looked very much like yours.

Boxer, I've called around the whole afternoon yesterday without any success. Most people involved said to search for an manufacturers imprint on the broken part and try to locate and contact them directly. Do you see any imprint on that broken shut off roll valve ? ?

Many thanks. We did try to find the manufacturer but they have gone out of business.

Boxer- In the interim, repairing the part with a turned and shallow threaded or unthreaded aluminum piece and then coating the entire upper part of the plastic valve and the repair joint in epoxy may let you soldier on until you find a real part. Cannot see the valve once installed, I assume.

We may have to go in that direction. Major concern is that if we need to access the valve again, the tank has to come out.

We might have another option with a similar valve that might work with a bit of minor modification. Will know more next week.

Thanks again for all the help.

Or perhaps just get a generic (and better) valve and install it until an original or original looking valve can be located. There are lots of good valves available that could be installed in a completely reversible way.

Here's a few options:

or the one Brian found looks really close to original.

Boxer- There are some indestructible ones out there that could be adapted. One by Temco, 90-02622, and one by Coyote.

These look pretty easy to adapt! Just a simple NPT to barb and in it goes with no worry of ever having another problem.
