Quick "F" stint with Grandma

As my mother definitively was the one who gave me the "F" gen, I took her, the Grandma of my kids and 75 one of these days, into "F" for a 50km stint thru wonderful Swiss spring atmosphere. No roof, open sky edition, pleasently warming up, mother smoothly nestled herself into the comfortable seats (her saying as she had experienced a 600km F40 day trip before) without helmet (Boxer !). First 20-30km's below 2500 rpm (as usual) she said "oh thats really louder than anything before! Is this because of the open roof? Yes" I replied, "partially so". Temperature here were around 8 degrees C, to cold to wildly accelerate but when entering the autobahn I flushed "F" up to 8' rpm but not in a rush but rather smoothly and saw in the edge of my eyes mama to quitly slip lower into the seat, smiling broadly and suddenly shouting under the noise: "Don't you think they could take your license ? Oh, no no Mama, we are still way of that barrier" and quickly changed gear directly into sixth, so that the engine was moving around 3-4' again.
Shortly after back to the Garage, short little clean up as I will head with my wife to a restaurant this evening first time open roof thru the night. That will be fun too.

It was great fun to listen my mothers explanation afterwards what she thinks the difference is i.e. to the F40: "Its louder to listen and harder on the street and veeeery stable" she said since we experienced some narrow roundabouts on our way. Well said Mama.

Great story 212 and a knowledgeble mother!

I took my mother for a drive in my 355 when I was living in Spain. We were just rolling with the slow traffic to town in first and second and she was veeery unsettled. I didn't take her for another ride until when I passed her house in Sweden in my first Sgaglietti, on my way to my old boat. When she saw the car she said:
"I'd quite like to have a ride in this Ferrari!"
After a very slow, smooth ride in auto-mode my mother remained cheerful and proclaimed the 612 good and the 355 claustro-scary.

In early June I'm bringing the Titanic, my old Phantom V touring limo, back to Switzerland from the engine overhaul in Sweden. When stopping by at my mothers place I'll arrange a driver and take her for an aperitif cruise. That should be perfectly to her liking I'm certain.

Salve,
Capo

I took my folks (in their early 80s) for a ride when I got the Spider. Along city streets, we never got above 40mph. Three blocks out she was too unsettled and we had to turn back.

With Pop on the other hand, couldn't go fast enough....

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

Some like it...some do not....that's life

In the meantime went with my wife, "F" and sunset surroundings to a nice Thai chicken curry dinner. I do like the chicken curry very much but today that was secondary as I was looking out much more for the drive back as it was my first time driving "F" in the dark with open roof. That all may sound silly on childish but we loved to look at the sparkling star sky while running the rpm's up to 7' in short moves. Passed many cars and while slowing they passed us again while flashing at us with their cameras in the dark. They seemed to enjoy it as we did. We probably looked like crazy people with open roof at almost 0 degrees C by now and my "Hunters hat" from Capo on my head. Fun, fun, fun. I love that car. I hope you all are able to take your horses out as well and enjoy it as well. Have fun !

Great stories!
I remember taking my Mum on a trip in the 360 from Frejus to Monte Carlo along the lower coast road. She loved it and I remember it was a great day.

Now, the time I took her on the back of a Ducati 999S, well she didn't enjoy that quite as much!

212 - 75 year olds who can discuss the merits of an F40 vs an F50 are a rare breed. Your a lucky man to have such a great mother who instilled the love of Ferrari in you!!

Yes you're right, Barry, I am. Hey but that's unbelievable your mother on the back seat of a Ducati 999S. Obviously my mother has still thing to do....

It was actually pure comedy. Every corner I could hear a scream as I lay the bike over. Haven't been asked for another go since.

When I had a GT3 I took my mother out from a spirited drive....then let her have a go. I was definitely the more nervous passenger! Was worthwhile as she still mentions it. Although she is 75 she still rides (and jumps!) regularly (as do I). I definitely inherited my love of speed from her.

I took my Grandmother out in the F355 GTS years ago. She loved it.
