That actually sounds evil!

212, how much extra sound insulation did you get on your F50?? :)

Haha, everybody is quick to remind me on my sound insulation. But, as explained on the other thread, the F50 sound insulation has really nothing to do with any exhaust noise. It is really only a insulation against the vibration and chain rumbling noises from directly behind the seats. And trust me, they are more difficult noises to get over it than anything else.:steeringwheel:

Have you driven it with the top on it?

People just do not understand how much noise they make until they ride in one, especially with the top on.

212.......do you suppose the noise and vibration is amplified to the cockpit because it has something to do with the engine being bolted to the tub like an F1 car? :yikes:

Nice video - not sure I would want one for a neighbor.

Yes have driven "F's" several times also with the top on. You are right, its noisier with the top on. However I would expect to drive it 80% without the top on.

No, I would not expect more noise because of a different exhaust for the cabin inside. However I do not know. I still believe that for driver and co-driver, the "natural" F50 inside noise when driving will not be superseed by a louder exhaust noise. But again, I do not know.:ears:

That is one angry sounding F50

The engine being bolted to the tub certainly increases the vibration in the cockpit.

Certainly makes you believe the engine was derived from the 040 F1 engine, or the 333 SP engine (even though Ferrari claimed the opposite), but at least a race engine.

The F50 was Ferrari's first 65 deg V12 street car, and they have certainly gotten mileage out of that configuration. Borrowed from a Dino V6 engine, naturally.

Crud, I did not realize Ferrari made a 75 degree V12 engine for F1. More room for induction, I guess. Learn something new every day.

There is so much about the construction of that motor that makes far more sense as a race motor than a street motor I just don't believe it wasn't orginally intended for a race application.

Besides, when has Ferrari ever gone to the trouble of designing and tooling up for an all new motor sharing no parts or architecture, in other words a clean sheet motor for a street car and only used it for just a few units?

Brian- They are definitely evolutionary rather than revolutionary. But really highly evolved.

No question, and being a carbon fiber tub rather than an older aluminum one is a big difference too.

Sounds sweet but...

This is an F50 vs a UK Rage - Not as good a sound as the 1963 250 GTO vs the Polaris.. but still...
