Over the past few months I have dealt with starter issues (friends Boxer) and Alternator issues (my 348 spider) and after reading mounds of misinformation and seeing the INSANE prices for both units I have found two sources that solve all starter and alternators issues at affordable prices.
For Starters: AMP Starter motors in UK is selling brand new Denso gear reduction starters for almost every Ferrari / Dino, from the 330 to the 458. I installed one on a 512 BB and it weighs 1/2 of Bosch unit, draws 1/2 the current and turns the engine over at 2x the speed of the OEM unit even when hot. BTW Marelli now owns Denso.

For Alternators: The amount of misinformation on the denso 348 spider alternators is mind boggling especially the part about the transpo IN220 regulator which may fit but is incorrect.
355 and 348 alternators have same components.
I found a place in Montreal that is a manufacture of every stator and rotor for every alternator and also can source US / Japan made regulators (no Chinese crap). There are 3 stator measurements he needs and the # of wires in each lead off stator ( see link below). The owner name is Frank and his knowledge is amazing. He has most stators and rotors on shelf and in 1 day I had a new stator (wound to 110 amps over stock 90 amp) and Regitar made in USA regulator and not including shipping the cost was $83. BTW he can rewind your stator or rotor if he does not have on shelf.
