575 Zagato REPLICA?

Hi everyone!

a few day ago I have read an article about 250 GTZ and Aston Martin DB4Zagato modern replica cars and I ask myself, it si possible to buy a demage 575 and make a body replica of the 575 zagato?

What do you think?

Thx!

Leot- Sure, it just takes money and skill. None of the safety systems were changed on the 575 GTZ so safety testing was not required. It was mostly just bodywork. Zagato might not be too happy if one of their designs was copied due to intellectual property rights concerns.

Sure!

but I don't think that will be a problem if you don't reproducet and than sell the product. If you make a copy of something..is just a copyfor your personal use. like for exsample a GTO replica base on same nissan z..something car. If you understand me.

The problems is, where to find bluprints..also, is dificult to find a 550 or a 575 (correct me if I am wrong, but the two basically the same cars) with body damage but with all the mechanical and interiors parts.

I am not planing to do it, I just collecting information about the 575 GTZ (bacause I very mucl like the car).

Thx

Seems like Forza had an article on the 575 GTZ. They also made 550 models well after the fact.

I don't think so, Taz. Two years ago Andrea Zagato (el Jefe!) came to Saratoga Springs to attend our Fall Ferrari Festival; he was chief judge in the Concours and I was with him and his marketing Manager, Paolo di Taranto, on his judging team, so had a chance to chat with him and Paolo about the 575GTZ Maranello, one of which was in the Concours, placed next to my 575M 'normale' Maranello. I learned that Zagato was constructing a total of nine examples of the car, the maximum number apparently permitted by Eurozone regs and still call the model a 'prototipi'. He told me that three were built for European customers, three for the U.S. and three for Asia. Knowing what I know about the serious penchant the auto manufacturers, Ferrari in particular, as well as custom coachbuilders have about protecting their I.P., it would not surprise me, if they learned of a copy, to see them go after the maker. I'm going to try to find a couple of photos of the car that was in our Concours. It had a TdF blu lower body and a light beige roof, custom quilted cuoio leather interior, a quite exquisite car, handsomely set off by my TdF blu/cuoio standard 575M! First photo is the GTZ at Saratoga with just them left front of my 575M, the second is Andrea signing a Zagato book for me, the third and fourth are stock GTZ photos from Zagato publicity for our friend who is such a fan of the car! P.S. somewhere I have one of those Zagato baseball caps that Andrea is wearing; a collector's item, eh? P.S. I've just noticed that in the photo of the blue 575GTZ, off to the right you will see the right rear quarter of the Zagato Aston-Martin Spyder that belongs to Jim Taylor, a founding Trustee of the Museum, whose "garage" houses his collection of 40-50 cars including twelve or thirteen Jaguars (one le Mans C-type and one D-type!) and seven or eight Astons. And will house the Ferrari 50 Anni di Passione 599 that is presently touring the U.S. and Canada.

Great photos and great story!

Well, is understandable, that they will be very happy about a copy of such a special car, but let's take for exsample the DB4 zagato in this link:
The DB4 Zagato from Evanta Motor Company

Maybe they made a agreement about that...

intrepid have you other informations and photos about the 575GTZ?

huh? !!!

of course, all their V12's since the end of the GTC's have been qv's

is the V12 transverse or longitudinal? If the latter, how much did you need to stretch the wheelbase?

LOL ROF

It's a 400i block with TR 4v heads and 12 ducatic TBs on top, mounted transverse:

Seth- Built in a series of five, one RHD, the 550 GTZ Barchetta was built from completed 550 Barchettas, unlike some of the 575 GTZs, in the post 550 production timeframe. Advertised price was $1.6M. Zagato chose the beefed up Barchetta chassis as the basis for the open car to ensure adequate stiffness. The cars have been shown extensively at concourses around the world.

Mark- That engine looks beautiful. Sort of like one of the P4 engines, or maybe a 335S engine with injection instead of webers. First shot I have seen of her with most parts assembled. Too bad she will be partially hidden sidewinding in your 308. Would look great in a front engine car where you could see the entire engine. Should run really smoothly as the 365/400/412 engine was the last of Ferrari's 60 deg V12s.
