1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi - Gauges

I have a question about the type and placement of the center console gauges on the GTSi model for 1980, I know that 1980 is the first year of the GTSi and some interior changes, seat pattern, steering wheel design, door panels, and the moving of gauges from the left side of the "A" pillar to the center console. Most of the GTSi gauges are at the top of the console and placed side by side, but on my car and only a few others I've seen the gauges are still at the forward end of the console, but placed one on top of the other. I'm guessing that since the '80 model were "new" that Ferrari just used up the remaining consoles from the GTS models and simply modified them to contain the gauges before they started using the redesigned center console? This is just a guess of mine, can anyone confirm this or know the real story? I've attached a picture of the layout in my car. Thanks

I would say your supposition is correct. Transitional cars would often have parts from both the older and newer versions. For example, when Ferrari switched to steel from fiberglass for the 308s, some transitional cars were assembled with steel bodies and fiberglass doors.
