1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi worth

Hey guys.... I'm new to this forum..... I'm really close to buying one too....
I'm buying from a exotic car dealer... Its being sold by a ferrari mechanic. He seems really creditible... 37 years on the job... He showed all the service papers.. All the work done by him since it was bought from him... It showed about 35,000 usd spent on the service done a few months ago.. The owner moved out of the states so he priced it at 28,000 usd... I just looked at it this morning.. The engine is clean, interior is almost perfect, exterior is has a few sctraches(only if you really get close).. It only has about 18,000 miles on it... So guys... what do you guys think?... I'm planning to buy this Monday...... thanks

I would still get a full Pre Purchase Inspection with both a compression and leakdown test done on the car. It may look perfect but you never know.

Not sure why someone would spend $35k on a service and then try to sell the car for $28k.

I agree

William taylor...

Thanks for input... So the place I'm buying it from is a Ferrari Specialist... You think i should get a second for another mechanic?.. Different location?

Yes, I would get another Ferrari mechanic to look at the car on your behalf.

If you want to see what could go wrong, look at this thread:

This is why you need a PPI.

Thanks Everyone...

Thanks Steve & William.....

So I was just came back from the Prestige Autohuas in walnut creek cali.
The Owner/head mechanic showed me the service paper.. All work was done himself since it was sold from he's dealership in the 1980 with 2 past owners.A few months ago he did about 35,000usd service.. Cleaned out the whole car, enigine work(20,038 miles) like cable replacement etc.. The last owner moved out of the states so head mechanic put in his showroom.... Everything about it is clean... You wouldn't believe how clean the engine is... This baby comes with all books and original tools... New tires also put on...

I'm thinking of buying it tonight...anything i should look at before buying, like questions? or check list?.....

I appreciate you guys and hope to be part of ferrari life....

thank mike
