Very interesting experiment and I'm doing something similar with the 550's V12 engine, but did not use Zircotec.
Regarding heat shields, for the 550 engine, we do have one that protects the starter, but not the alternator. Fuel lines are insulated, but the fuel rails themselves are not, nor is the intake
manifold and I've often thought those components could be candidates for Zircotec, or something similar.
