Recirculation flap foam seal
My foam seal strip has fallen out
It seals the recirculaton air chamber when the flap in the evaporator box is closed..it sits somehow above the metal tube at the top edge of the flap and the evaporator box.....
I'd like to put this foam strip back but do not know how to install
Does it glue onto the metal tube on the top edge of the flap itself?....this is the tube where the pin from the motor unit fits and then part of the foam is squeezed under the evaporator box to seal that gap?
Or does it glue to the underside of the evaporator box with a section of it squeezing between the metal tube of the flap and the evaporator box thus sealing that gap?
Hard to explain
Howard, I'll try to remember to have a look at mine tomorrow.
Howard, I'm not sure I fully understand what you are asking. The door is foam covered top and bottom.
Thanks for trying to help me...
There is a foam strip between the top of the flap and the air box itself...this seals the box when the flap is closed.
I think i can see it in your photo...it's about 1mm thick above the metal pivot tube of the flap
Looks like it is stuck on under the box .....
It appears to be simply adhered with a double sided tape. You should be able to get the foam with adhesive from a hardware store. In the US, I would use McMaster-Carr.
I can't stick the foam on whilst still getting enough room for the door to open and close.
The foam jams the rotation of the door...probably why my foam was all out of shape.
I am going to delete the foam...cannot see how it is of any benefit.
The gap that it should seal is minute.
