355 Engine / Subframe Stand for Major Service

Guys,

I've designed this stand and will build it over the next few weeks.

Drawings are ready and I can email copies to anyone that wants them - PM your email address if you want a copy.

Thanks.

Funny you say that.

We have this expensive floor cleaning machine that was a topic today. I've got a long time employee who does a great job, who keeps the floors super clean, and was asking about the machine today.

We ended up using a white pad under the brush to do the scrubbing - worked well

Dave,
from experience, I would make each supporting point adjustable in height when the frame is on the stand. This has proved to be very useful and efficient, both at removal and at reinstal, to support properly the frame while maintaining/adjusting the alignment wrt the chassis.

Eric,

I don't want to over complicate the stand. I will have rubber blocks to put between the frame and the stand. I can shim there if needed.

Cutting tubing and milling to length. We do this so the ends are very square...

So Dave, is this a government job or what?

If you are going to tell someone how to remove a bolt you should at least know which way to turn the wrench.

You bet, one of the benefits of owning a shop

I might have one of my suppliers powder coat the frame - we shall see how it plays out..

Makes me jealous. I haven't had a machine shop to play in since I worked for Star Dental one summer back in '67. Got a couple locally, but it's pay to play, though they are pretty reasonable.

Just befriend one of the local owners. I'm sure you could trade services.

I hate to be picky but your design drawing is terrible.
1. No title block
2. No description of design
3. No dimensions.

I could go on and on i am thinking your professors would not have passed you through engineering drafting and design without that pretty smile.
