Differences between 95 MY and 96-99

Hey Gang,

I'm still learning the differences and I think it would be nice to have a thread that defines them.

- 95's have no alarm or immobilizers (therefore no FOB's)
- 95's are OBD I, 96-99 are OBD II.
- related to OBDII, 95's do not have post CAT O2 sensors
- 95's do not have a post bypass valve thermocouple
- 95's do not have a glove box between the seats
- 95's do not rear bumper (black area) has no vents. 96-99 have slotted vents
- The secondary air pump in the 95 is a different design than others
- 95's have no access panels behind driver or passenger seats
- I've read (please confirm), 95's delivered to the USA had no option for stereo systems
- 95's do not have the riveted trim piece above the center tail light mesh panel
- 95's (maybe other years?) do not have thumb screws for the access panels under the front bonnet - they have snaps (my 98 has screws)

Dave are we discussing usa specified cars. If we r doing world wide wasnt there some other changes. 95 cars could shut off their abs? Had different fuel systems, 2 vs 1 pumps, had different exhausts, had diff shock hangers? Had differant gears in tranny. I should qualify last statement had one differant gear.

My 1997 has the snaps under the bonnet (access to battery switch) etc.

While we're at, someone said 98+ cars have improvements. What are they?

F129B vs F129C?

I think we also need to distinguish between production year and model year.

I think at this point dave is just saying this was the way they were generally deliver as new. I know all 95s i have seen did nit have a glovebox, and all 96 to 99 did have. I guess if what you are saying is a new 96 as delivered in 96 had no glove box it is possible but not the normal factory delivery for sure.

Guys, I'm just trying to help understand and help others understand the differences via model year. We can certainly add non US differences but please be sure to state that.

Having a 95 and 98, it's interesting to see the changes.

M.Y. 95 cars have thin front shock mounts which are prone to cracking if aftermarket high-performance shocks and springs are mounted. This was corrected with M.Y. 1996.

1995 F355 Challenge cars were retrofitted with modified mounts (8).

When was the little locking compartment behind/between the seats added? '98-'99?
