Dave,
Who do you use for plating?
My hobby is restoring muscle cars and to do a high end restoration parts need to be plated not painted like that Eastwood junk, thats amateur hour.
I am looking for a good plating company that can do zinc, phosphorus and black oxide
Thanks
-Dominic

Hi Dominc,

I have many sources as my main business deals with all types of plating. For this, I have a friend at Buffalo Metal Finishing doing the work.

However, I did see this place on the net and they specialize in auto part restoration so they may be a better solution if you need to have someone prep your parts first.

Thanks Jim. I'm not happy with the cam pulley washers so I will give them a light surface grind and replate (last picture).

Eric, once I get my heads apart I will be able to more accurately measure the cam center - center distance. Then I plan to make a minor revision to the tool (it's a tad loose now) and then I will make some on our CNC mills. So, yes, I will likely have some for sale then as a few have asked me for them.

I've been really busy so I've not had time to do much on this project but my goal is to get sub-assemblies ready for re-assembly of the motor.

So, no real revelation here but it's nice to see a couple things getting assembled.

And, the tensioner brackets now spin nice and free about the collars.

As for the throttle bellcrank - this is a rather poor design on behalf of Ferrari. They used needle bearings that are not sealed. This would be better using simple oilite bearings.

Here are a couple before and after photos:

Dave- She is going to be in better shape than she was when she left the factory.

Thanks, Terry. I just need to remain patient. This is a fairly large undertaking and some times I feel as I am not moving at a fast enough pace. I need to remind myself that it's the journey not the destination on this one

Dave- You have already eliminated a lot of groad that was under the hood/bonnet. That clean throttle linkage has to work better, too.

That bearing design was a poor choice by Ferrari. My 98 seized up and the 95 was not seized but the bearings where rusted. I pack the crap out of them with grease. It's an item I will inspect every major for sure. I'll post the bearing cross reference in the thread I started about P/N cross referencing.

Doing lot's of sticky refinishing also.
