Hello, Just purchased a damaged 98 355F1 and need to locate the rollover valve. Anybody know where it is located?[/b]

not at all. It's the intense vacuum intake when prying open the fuel cap. Figuring out the fix so this can be corrected as there are posts with photos that this issue leads to a fuel tank collapsing... I was told it was a roll over valve, I've been told so many things- I'm in a 97 gated GTS.

David- The F355 (2.7 and 5.2) rollover valve sits atop the fuel vapor separator cannister (disareator) and is called the anti-flowback valve in the parts catalog. It is number 21 in this drawing from Ricambi's online parts catalog and is part of the antievaporation system (evaporative control system). If you have the WSM it is shown on page 220 (5.2, 146 for 2.7) of Volume 1 and there is a description of the rollover valve on page 222. It is a simple check ball that shuts off fuel flow if the car is inverted, or even on a very steep slope.

If you do not have an F355 WSM, go to ferraridatabase.com and download one.

Looks like there are all kinds of little valves in there that could be clogged.

I was directing voila based on personal experiences of a friend of mine. Problem is we have 348's which is a dramatically different system. I still believe the problem lie's with the flip system somehow, I just can't do the troubleshooting over the Inet. Seems like these stupid little plastic check valves get stuck after a while. I doubt a cleaning will restore proper operation but you must determine which one is bad before you can replace it. Any suggestions.

Lane- Normally you just take it off and either blow through it if you like the taste of gasoline, or hook up some low pressure air (hand pump?) and see if there is a restriction. The rollover valve should only pass air one direction since its secondary (primary?) funtion is an anti-reverse valve. The tank ventilation valve is two way (26 above) and should pass air both ways.

Possibility the charcoal filter is clogged or the purge solenoid valve (44) is not activating to clear it?

Cannot think of an easy way to do any of that. Not sure if the SD1/2 can look at that solenoid function or not and what else it can see in the evaporative emissions control system.

Taking one last look at it, he has a tank ventilation problem and a tank ventilation valve is only $20. If it is easy to reach, might be worth a try. The other valves are more expensive.

David- Problem is in that evaporative emissions loop somewhere. You might ask Brian Crall, Josh Hill, or one of the other pros here if they have seen that problem. Good news is the most expensive part in there is less than $200. Labor may be a bit more.

Thank you. This is the most useful. I'm having this repaired, along with a gear-shift issue, it crunches in third and fourth. Once it returns, it will be perfect, to me. Thank you Taz. I owe you.
