Silly question...is the correct way to say it, 3-2-8 or 3-28?

Always wondered if I was saying it incorrectly...what does Ferrari consider the right way?

Either works, but what I usually hear is three twenty-eight, three forty-eight, three fifty-five, five fifty, etc.

I always said 3-28, but the last time I was at the dealer two employees called it a 3-2-8?

The former is far more common but it really doesn't matter

"Tre venti otto" sounds much more attractive.

Best wishes, John

Thanks for asking! I always wondered the same thing, being French, I didn't have any clue!

So it seems like the commonly accepted term is three twenty-eight. So what about the 308? How do you pronounce the "0"?

By the way in French, we read the whole number, a 328 is a trois-cent vingt-huit, or three hundred and twenty eight, but this probably comes from the fact "hundred" is "cent", which is a very short word that doesn't make the whole thing too long.

Well, think about this: the numerals have meanings within the name: for the 308, the first two stand for "3.0 liters displacement", same for the 328, and so on, while the last digit stands for the number of cylinders. So it would be a "three-oh/eight" or "three-two/eight", omitting the "point" of course. This is most likely over- analyzing the issue but anyway there it is...

Cheers,
Rich
('86 three-two-eight)
