348 CLUTCH

Wonder if you could help - after my 348 (1990) has been running for about 10mins, the clutch stops working smoothly. When releasing the clutch after changing gear or trying to set off, it is impossible to do it smoothly. It's fine until the clutch is half engaged, but then it just drops the last half

Maybe the clutch is wearing out (worn out)

This could be the friction material on the clutch plate or something else.

Could be a hydraulic problem also

Im not too sure about clutches.

Contamination (eg oil) on the friction plate can produce a non-progressive clutch take-up, ie it suddenly just "grabs" with only a small amount of extra pedal movement. Is the clutch fully disengaging (ie is it hard to put into gear)?

I forgot to mention that the car has just had a full service and new clutch fitted.

Appreciate your help, but, no, it is not difficult to select a gear, and, as i said, this only starts happening when the car has warmed up??

I had a 92 with the dual plate set up and the travel was high and only about an inch of travel on the pedal, an almost binary feel.

This is a common thing for 348 clutches: they engage quite high on the pedal travel and over a short distance of travel.

Even after I rebuilt mine and had the system completeley bled, it was the same.

edit: sorry I'm not answering the question. have you checked the brake fluid in your reservoir?
