Fire hazard alert

Often overlooked during routine services, but always a concern on 30+ year old cars; the fuel filler hose. Here's one that came out of a GT4.

Indeed, it is. This is one of the most commonly overlooked hoses that I run into on the 3x8 cars.

And I bet the hose looked "just fine" until you squeezed it. Fist thing I replaced on my 328 were all the hoses. Great way to learn about the car.

The heavy fuel smells and stains on the fender liner were a tell-tale on that particular car, although many of those "looks OK: hoses are just a few moments away from a 911 call to the fire department.

Good reminder

This crap ethanol blended gas isn't doing the fuel hoses any favors either. Seen hoses only a couple of years old that look a couple of decades old, especially on the inside.

Current: 85' GTS QV
It's a simple process...... it's just complicated by human beings....

Lucky for that owner he knew where to take his car.

Reminds me of Creampuff and the rear deck barbecue event just after he had a major service. I replaced every piece of rubber on my 308 when I did my major. Puff didn't and paid for it. Sage advice David.

Competezione replaced my TR fuel filler hose about five years ago (after I smelled gas in the garage). I was lucky it didn't catch fire.

I'll ask them to check the 360 during the next oil change this summer.

Thanks for the reminder!
